Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Dave Ramsey's FPU. I want to explore my strengths and figure out/find/create work that I love.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Employee, not quite full time, not using anywhere near my potential, in an environment that all too often is toxic. For example, in "stepping out" for customer service-what I consider a standard level of service for our customers-a coworker has commented more than once that I was being "daring". I said, "Well, then I guess I might be daring to dead in 60 seconds."
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
At this point, I believe I want to be self-employed, using gifts that I have to create work I love. Yes, I know that is very non-specific. I hope to clarify that dream here.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Nothing specific enough at this point. Generally, to do this work with my husband, to create wealth, to give more,
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I love to help others. After reading your book "48 Days to the Work You Love" (didn't get through it, lent it to daughter), "Cure for the Common Life" by Max Lucado, and several others, I have come to realize that I am in possession of a tremendous amount of resources, and that I love to share that information with others so that they can improve the quality of their lives. I can write well (started a blog "Too Darn Happy" and fell off the wagon) and I embrace change. I am comfortable speaking in front of groups, as I have done it sporadically for years, for the United Way, for work, for our school's parent group, and recently as a facilitator for Financial Peace University.

Avoiding Epic Gift-Giving Fail: 10 Rules for Delightful Gift Giving

I love giving, and yet am filled with a certain degree of concern as I choose gifts for the more challenging individuals on my list.

This year, though, I came up with a list of 10 Rules for Delightful Giving that I think is going to make…

What dog training failure can teach about parenting

Posted on October 18, 2012 at 10:04am 5 Comments

We encourage each other and write a lot here about growing in our strengths, skills and passions. We were all parented in one form or another, and many of you may be parenting children and shepherding businesses simultaneously.

I recently rewrote an old post having to do with the utter training failure of an adorable dog, and what that could teach us about how we parent our children towards their future. I think the lessons are important ones, and I'd love to have you take a read and…

Have you become a resentful giver?

Posted on September 26, 2012 at 8:12am 9 Comments

Even though it is only September, you can see the holidays rolling inexorably towards us. Thanksgiving decorations are already appearing in the stores, and the Miller's annual Christmas Open House has been scheduled.

While you may give of your time, talent and money year round, the requests and needs tend to ramp up over the next few months as the holidays settle in for the season.

This is a great time to do a personal giving check. Are you a cheerful giver, or have you become…
