The Importance of Having Someone Who Believes in You

"Put your foot in the strap and once you're comfortable, slowly, slowly let go," said my coach. I was about to attempt a difficult trick on the water, a trick that would require me to let go of a handle and barefoot water ski backwards...on one foot. I wasn't sure I could do it. I wasn't sure if I was even ready for it. In fact,…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I heard about this from Joel Boggess after interviewing him for ChicagoNow blog: Leaving a Corporate Job to Embrace His Passion.

http://www.chicagonow.com/barefoot-in-the-burbs/2012/03/joel-bogges...

I love being a part of a like-minded community filled with a zest and passion for life. After all, life is too short to pout all the time. Why not have lots of fun while you're at it?
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Self employed. I'm a Passion Coach specializing in helping others to unwrap their passions.

I'm also the part-time Director of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Infusion for Hands & Voices and I work in early intervention providing mentoring services to families with deaf/hard of hearing children. I blog at ChicagoNow, a Chicago Tribune-owned site.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
There's a quote on the back of my business card which says simply this:

"When work, commitment, and pleasure all become one and you reach that deep well where passion lives, nothing is impossible." (unknown)
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I want to become the top female barefoot waterskier in my division and compete in the Barefoot Worlds. I also want to be the oldest woman to barefoot jump.

I have written four books and plan to write many more-- my dream is to work from anywhere-- oh wait, I'm already doing that! I love to speak to groups and travel.

My heart really sings when I sit down with someone and help them unwrap their passions, especially if they've long buried them inside. I love watching people find their joy.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I have the ability to ask questions and get to know folks on a deep level. I enjoy talking to people and sharing knowledge. My barefoot coach calls me "relentless," but I prefer to say I'm just passionate about life and the pursuit of dreams.

The Easiest Publishing Software

Back when I wrote my first three books, I used Word and hired someone to format one of my books. Getting a book from written form into .epub and .mobi formats was a hair-pulling experience for me. One day, thanks to Chris Brogan, I was introduced to what I think is the most amazing writing and publishing tool:

Pressbooks.

There's More to Life Than Just Existing

I love watching people soar. Kimanzi Constable has been doing just that since I've crossed paths with him about a year ago. It's fun watching someone else's success unfold!

Kimanzi just launched a helpful guide to turning your life around-- from just existing to a life worth living to the fullest. His book, "Are You Living or Existing" launched last week and it looks like it will join "Tales of the Everyday Working Man (and…

Hi Karen,

Welcome to the Unlock Your Passion group!

I was so glad to see your name pop up as a new member.

I can't believe it's been over a year since we met at Coaching With Excellence.

As you probably know, one of the best ways to get a lot out of the group is to start a discussion or join one.

Feel free to go ahead and jump into the discussion we have going on right now.

It's an exercise I like to have people do where they name their top 3 favorite movies to see how they might be connected to your passions - we'd love to hear yours.

It's so great to have you in the group Karen.

I know you'll add a ton of value for everyone.

I wish you much success in your pursuit to live and work in your passions.

I look forward to connecting with you further in the group.

All My Best,

Adam Rico
