In writing my book on creativity I am including a section on vibrant health through tapping into your creative nature. I am convinced expanding your right brain is a key to better health and vitality.
Interestingly I am also at the menopausal age in life where I am able to devote time and energy into discovering where my own creative nature leads and am finding a new me I didn’t know was there. I am reading a ton of books, articles and quotes that feed into this belief that being…

Three questions keep running through my mind:
1. Who is speaking into my life?
2. Am I really listening?
4. Am I giving valuable output to others?
This morning I listened to a podcast while on the treadmill that was not only inspirational but also sparked the nagging afterthought of “who is speaking into my life?" Interestingly, that is not at all what…

While shopping recently with a good friend she held up a garment for me to check out and I made an off-hand remark about how that would not fit my fat posterior. During the course of the excursion, there were several times I made remarks about myself that were less than kind. At one point my friend pointed out to me, sweetly, that I needed to quit talking so negatively about myself. Harrumph!
I know better than most what negative self-talk does to a person. Dan and I teach…

On a recent ride through the country after a rain storm, my husband abruptly stopped mid-sentence to point out the rainbow off in the distance. I found it quickly and reflected on its beauty. We continued our catch-up discussion and while making a point I took off my sun-glasses, gazing off in the direction of the rainbow. Weird….it had disappeared! I continued talking and put my sunglasses back on. Voila! The rainbow was as clear as it was before. Took my glasses off again…

I learn a lot about myself through art. In my class yesterday we talked about being authentic. “What does authentic mean to you?” and “How does that relate to your art?” We each wrote our response on paper so as not to influence the answer someone else might give. It was a great exercise!
Now art takes on many forms. You certainly don’t have to have a paint brush in your hand in order to be creative. One of my teachers,…

Connie Foster said… Joanne,
I have not read Curt's book yet, but you've just moved it to the top of my stack. I will get started tonight and look forward to share my thoughts with you.

Hi, Joanne,
Great to see you and Dan again at Catawba. I realized after I offered to send you a manuscript that I don't really have an e-mail address for you. Help!
Kurt
Joanne,
Well...I started typing this thank you note about five times and quite frankly, I am a bit speechless at your kind note and don't quite know how to respond in the right way as I don't think you really realize how much it meant to me! Delighted, stunned, honored, etc. didn't quite describe it!
I had Maggie read your note out loud to the kids and I when we got home tonight. We recorded it on video and the kids spent the last hour editing it and trying to teach me how to use the darn iMovie feature (what a hoot!). If we can figure out how to email the file to you, we will.
Joanne, your note just has me grinning ear to ear. I was feeling a bit down these past two days with the 2nd book as it isn't where it could be in reaching people. Your note came at the perfect time as I was feeling a bummed that it isn't "there" yet.
Ha! I had to laugh at your note about Don't Quet! I think the editors in the group must cringe enough at my grammar and spelling at times - the Don't Quet would have evicted me from the group I am afraid. ha ha You actually inspired the Living Beyond Awesome name at the conference - it stuck right when you said it.
Joanne, thanks again. Honestly and truly, I am truly humbled and amazed at you and Dan's kindness...thank you! I wrote a blog last night that i just posted tonight. It is true about the star struck attitude many of us feel when we meet you guys...then after meeting you both, one comes away feeling like we just made a new good friend! You guys are amazing.
Deby DID make me look pretty darn good (as well as everyone else that she did at the conference). What a AWESOME service she provides for those of us that NEED her!!
We are literally counting the months to coming back to TN! HOPING within the next 10-18 months we will be coming back as a family to do our debt free scream. It would be great to have it around one of the upcoming conferences as I would love to have the family pop in for your traditional gathering at the end of the events. It still cracks me up that the kids recognize Dan's voice and picture (my 8 year Max said Hey that is Dan Miller when I posted the blog tonight - you guys are a part of our family!).
Many blessings and hugs!
Jen
