How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
By doing an internet search on 48Days. I hope to be able to learn from others who are already living their passion or working to get there. I also hope to contribute to others while pursuing my passion.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I currently work for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. I am a manager in the Information Technology group. I have been with the bank for 9 years. In that time I have managed 4 different groups. I do a lot of reading in leadership and management. One of my goals is to empower each of my team members and help them find and utilize their strengths. As such I consider myself their coach and mentor as much as their manager.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I have had a love for art and wood work all my life. I have dabbled in both, but never done anything serious about either. A year ago this December I decided to take a class on turning bottle stoppers. As a result I started turning both bottle stoppers and pens. This got me looking at art again and how I could combine the two which led me to take a class in wood sculpture. During this same time I ran across Dan's books as a result of listening to Dave Ramsey. I now am trying to follow my dreams and my passion for art and woodwork. I hope to eventually make this my career along with my passion. I plan to eventually have a web presence for my art and woodwork.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I have a wonderful wife and four fantastic children. My wife and I enjoy looking for antiques and share a love for cooking. We are both actively involved in our church and do a lot of volunteer work through the church with our community.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?

"Deby, The best way I can explain it may be through some comparisons. I have to goals right now for helping me achieve this. One, is to continue my studies in human anatomy and do more drawing. Two, is to focus my carving on figurative…"
"Deby, Answer to your question, I'm in the process of taking my art to the next level. I've learned this summer at my shows that to get more sells my art needs to get closer to museum/gallery quality. People like the more realistic and…"
I'm on the sight at least once a week. Many of the lessons are 4-5 hours, but they're broken down into 15-30 minute segments so you don't have to watch it all at one time. It also makes it easier to work along with the…"
Thanks for the kind words about my art. Seems it is a challenge for me to paint 4 paintings a week. I have stayed with the $0.01 price for my paintings. 8 x 10 seems to sell better than 5 x 7s. I have had a few stops & starts, which Jack White warned would set me back. Seascapes, especially shrimp-boats docked, are good sellers. I am going to try cowboys myself. I want to get to a place where I am painting in oils rather than acrylic; that should boost prices a bit, hopefully. I will continue to follow hour progress, and I will keep you up to date on mine. Best to you!
