Jen Smith replied to Jody Young's discussion Am I backwards? Testing demand for Foreclosure E-books. in the group Write It Forward - REAL Success & Profit for Writers!
"I don't think that is backwards at all. I'm aware of more than a few people who have used this approach with "info product" that has a heftier price tag than what you are proposing. And after they found the demand, they spent…"

Second Bridal Show, Man how things change in a year.

My very first bridal show was in May of 09. At that time, i had a wordpress blog and a funky site that were tied together. And really, that's about it. SO I made a bunch of favors and cutsie little bride ideas, and set themm out on a table. Oh, and I bought a banner (not the web kind) for $50. 48Days buddy Andy Traub helped me to relax and focus and I just when in with the thought, what do I have to lose. I have no idea what I am doing, but oh well, I'm doing something.Fast forward to now. My…See More

Being YOU

I love popping in over here when I get the chance. 48Days is such an encouraging place to be. I happen to live about 10 minutes from one of the most "economically depressed" cities in the nation. I think Preisdent Obama gave it that wonderful distinction recently. And I do live in the state with the highest unemployment rate. All this to say how exciting and wonderful life is when you just set out to be the you that God created you to be, and stop settling for the job that dang near kills ya. I…See More

This internet business can be so slow, but then God.

Ok, so I haven't been here on 48 days in awhile. I haven't fell off the face of the earth and left my cheap party chick blog in the dust. But now, I am in my prime area of expertise, kinda weird considering I'm christian and that would be throwing a Halloween Party, but here's the thing. The very first Halloween party I threw, it was my intent to bring people from church into the other parts of my life. Scary huh? Well you knew Halloween was scary, just not quite that scary. See, as christians,…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Dave Ramsey. I hope to ditch my day job, and find the work I love! Part one-done, working on part two
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Currently I have a blog cheappartychick.com. I am working on an ebook and learning a lot about the more techie side of this. Also working on other streams of income like a related shop on etsy. My brain is gettign overloaded by learning, but I guess that's good.

My hubby has a business of his own and is an employee for someone else. We're working toward his business becoming our primary income. But also, even still, find out what it is God has us here to do, and do that, and do it WELL.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
Becoming debt free.(getting closer) Being givers. (currently giving lots of stuff away) And doing the work we love.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I am currently training for a figure competition. Scared to death, but going 4 it.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am a creative gal which makes business a challenge bc I can become easily distracted. However, over the years I've learned a lot about how to deal with this quirky part of my personality I love dirt...gardening that is. And I want mostly to be more accessible to my kids. YAY I'm home now.

Learning, Learning and Application

Phew. This internet business is fun and crazy and tiring and wild. Everyday is an adventure. Everyday I learn something new. It seems as if all of the website building, listbuilding, and social networking, all blend into a fuzzy haze and begin to make sense. It's just a matter of getting the ball rolling. Yes, as my 48days friend Andy Traub puts it, it's easy to get caught up in rabbit trails. But if you have a general idea of what you're after, it will eventually come together. You just need… Continue

Well I've been blogging and networking away. Seems like I am finding S L O W L Y, the shape of my business. One of the best books I have ever picked up besides 48 Days to the Work You Love of course, is Chicken Soup for the Entrepreneur's Soul. This is a fabulous book and I found it at Dollar General for $4! True Cheap Party Chick style.

I have made a few connections, and have explored the many avenues for income through blogging as well as creating my own products for sale on… Continue

I have learned a lot from Lynda.com . The only thing is I don't know if you need any program to use them. I have Adobe Creative Suite 4. It is very expensive but I use all the programs that come with it. I only pay 29.95 a month for the classes at Lynda.com and it has been well worth it. I take a class and work along on my stuff. I think you need to be able to apply what they are teaching to be able to learn it (or I do anyway). If you do decide to do this let me know. I will do your banner across the top for you and maybe a matching background. Word press is free. Email me and we can talk.

I got to use a little CSS that I taught myself. Everything is a work in progress. As fast as things change I guess it always will be.

Hope you and the kido's are having a great summer,

I know what you mean about encouragement. The masses still believe that, in order to succeed, we should get a good education (I agree with that), get a good job (what is that?) with a good, secure company (don't know many of those), and get that steady salary (haven't seen many of those last very long), and work there until retirement (what's that?) in order to reach your goals! I guess they still believe in fairies, gnomes, and elves too.
