He's Gone Away

Sorry, been away for awhile from this group, and I miss you guys!My mom had a stroke in May (80% recovered now), so my summer was spent dealing with that, then when school started up I had marching band. During that season, it's always like having a 2nd sometimes almost full time job.I was able to give three keynotes over the summer, my first ever, and it was very exciting.Looking forward to being back, learning and contributing.James www.jamesdivine.netSee More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Dan's podcast pointed me in this direction. I hope to improve what I do in my business to increase business and profits by learning from others.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I an currently a full time teacher in the public schools and have con-currently been self-employed in some aspect since 1993.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I love my job. There are some aspects of it that don't fit me well. If my self-employment income rose, I could "farm out" some of those aspects and become better at what I do well.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Too many to list...I have a yearly goals sheet inspired by Dan Miller's writing. I would like to perform and record more and also teach some college level and/or private music seminars/courses.

Cruises and quality time with my beautiful wife Susan and our kids and grandkids is always high on the list!
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
Teaching and performing music; public speaking.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

New Year's Resolutions Are A Waste of Time

Posted on December 31, 2016 at 10:19am 0 Comments

New Year’s resolutions are a waste of time! Most of the resolutions don’t last beyond the end of January. They are bound to fail. Resolutions are often not thought out, have no action steps and are rarely written down. They often lack specificity.

I want to lose 20 pounds by summer

NOT I want to lose weight

I want to earn $12,000 more each year by December

NOT I want to earn more

I will spend every Friday on a date night with my wife

NOT I want to spend…

Learn How To Make Money As A Musician

Posted on February 3, 2016 at 7:42pm 1 Comment

In 1996, I left the Army band and started a career as a self employed musician. I failed at the booking. I sought out a coach, implemented what he taught me and went from 20-30 gigs a year to 125+. I actually had to stop using my system for awhile because I was booked a year out!

I made many other mistakes, including not pricing myself right even after I got the 125+ gigs. In this 1.5 day workshop, I'd like to teach you what I learned so you can get more gigs and make more money as a…

Hello James,

I try to take time each week to welcome new members to 48Days.Net. So, let me say "welcome" to you! I know you will find this to be a great site filled with people who are experiencing true success in both life and work.

I'd like to point out that one of the best places to connect with other liked-minded people here is in the GROUPS section.
