No Matter
No matter what you do, there will be people that support you and there will be people that don't.
There will be people that think your ideas, products or services are great and there will be people that won't.
There will be people that like you and there will be people that won't.
The sooner you can accept this, the sooner you will be free to do whatever it is you were made to do.
Profile Information
- How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
- I first heard about it through Dave Ramsey's FPU class. Dan and the book are in the chapter about work. So I looked up 48Days, read the book, attended an event at the Sanctuary (which was very cool btw) and set out to make big changes. I even led a couple 48Days Seminars. But...(keep reading below)
- What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
- Employee for a multi-billion dollar corporation and although not ideal, at one time this would have been a major negative. Through some of the 48Days ideas and principles I have moved into a position within the organization that actually aligns with interests that I have. First time ever. But...(keep reading below)
- And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
- After going through the 48Days process I started my own coaching business. It was okay but I found that I struggled with the lackadaisical attitude that most people have toward taking control of their lives. They say it but aren't really willing to do any work to achieve it. So I shut down my coaching business.
Then I realized...(this is the part I had you keep reading for) that this whole time I had been focusing on how to get out of a job I hate instead of how to get into a job (I wouldn't really call it a job) that I love. I had been focusing on the negative instead of the positive. Sooo, I reached inside and pulled out those dreams and desires that I kept stuffing away because they didn't seem logical and really seemed a little too dreamy. Actually, they seemed too dreamy to others, not me, but I let the way others felt about dreams and goals keep me from chasing them.
Once I said phewy on everyone and decided to pursue my dreams as a writer/filmaker I have written and self-published a book and at the time I am writing this, am in post production on my first short film.
I still have my day job which is fine for now, it serves a purpose but I now actually work on things that I really, really enjoy.
My ultimate goal, be a full time writer and film maker. The ONLY way for that to happen is if I work on those things. Trying to get away from a job I don't like won't get me there. I have to work on the things I want to succeed at. (seems obvious I know)
- How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
- We have moved to a small farm and are raising a lot of our own food. Great family environment.
Our goal is a debt free life where we can focus on living for God.
- What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
- Sense of humor, creative thinker, sense of humor, I can help people see things they couldn't see before...whether they want to see it or not (is that good?)
I can do a lot of things well and I can excel at a few things. Some things I can do well I don' t like to do and some things I like to do I really stink at.
I look at things from many angles. I am a why person. If you don't know why you do something, I am curious why you do it. I regularly ask myself why about the things I do, sometimes I know, sometimes I don't. If I don't, I dig a little deeper.
