Seasons and sea changes

I guess those seasons are a necessary part of this thing we call "life," but making the transition into a new season can be a real bear.As I write this, I'm moving back to my home town in southern California. Most of this is to keep an eye on my elderly parents, but I see some new opportunities coming from this move. Maybe it's a sense of ripping down walls, razing the building and restarting. Renewal perhaps?Off the top of my head I have a partial to-do list, having nothing to do with the…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Heard about this on an Erik Fisher podcast. I'm a writer who spent 15 years ignoring this fact, and came to the realization there's no escape if you're a creative. I'm thinking about networking with other folks who are/were in that same boat.

*Update* Released several books since joining this community, including a novel I'd been meaning to write. Finally figured out I can finish things. Somehow I managed to get motivated just hanging around these high-level achievers.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Full-time family caregiver to an elderly parent. I also write fiction and nonfiction, and am pitching several story ideas as well as maintaining a blog.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
Self-employed writer, able to pick my assignments and make a halfway decent living at it. Down the road, would like to do some coaching. Some of my writing is sowing the ground for this.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Hike the rest of the Appalachian Trail without needing a walker to finish it. Build a very cool core/mastermind group of creative and dangerous types.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
From the StgrengthsFinder 2.0 list:
1) Strategic
2) Learner
3) Ideation
4) Input
5) Self-assurance

Guess this is one of those jumps.

Completing my novel "B.I.C. Cartel," about some folks who keep forgetting about their special gifts and/or letting the dysfunction of life supersede them.

Or something.

Anyway, Part III went live on Amazon. In the process of completing the final (full) version for a March 10 launch date.

Down the road - maybe toward the end of March? - will have a deluxe version of this work, with some info on how to get an accountability group…

The making of the goals: How I hope to get it right

Posted on January 24, 2014 at 11:06am 0 Comments

Hanging around the 48Days community (special thanks to Joel and Pei), I've discovered some errors in past top-of-the-year goal-setting. My pattern was to choose maybe a dozen and get overwhelmed throughout the year. Usually there's little strategy to these, almost like making out a bucket list instead.

Don't know if it'll help, but I've streamlined the process for 2014 and shot a little strategic juice into it. So after stealing a few ideas from here and from David Allen) there's a…

Hi Eric,

Pei and I are on-fire excited about the release of my latest book, Finding your Voice and would love to have you join us in the festivities.
Dan and Joanne Miller were kind enough to let us have the book release party at their place in Franklin.
Ashley and I recently booked the date and I wanted to get the invite out as quickly as possible so you could make plans to attend. Here's the scoop.

Hi Eric,

Hope all is well on your side.

It looks like you've been pretty active in the community. Good for you. It also looks like you know yourself pretty well. Is that fair to say?

What are some of your other thought regarding your mastermind idea?

Hi Eric,

Thanks for joining Strengthen My Spiritual Life and welcome to the 48days.net community! I feel honored that you have joined our group and look forward to hearing/reading more about how we can help each other. :)

As the 'leader', or launcher of Strengthen My Spiritual Life, I'd love it if you could take a few minutes to fill out a short survey (linked here) to let me know how I can best help you out on our shared journey together, and/or jump into the group by commenting on discussions and/or creating your own and sharing your thoughts, feelings, and reactions as they relate to anything spiritual in our lives.

Welcome again and thanks for joining us in Strengthen My Spiritual Life on this fantastic 48days.net community!

Hi Eric,

So glad you've joined up in the Finding your Voice group.

The best way to learn how the group works is to get involved in the discussion. We have an exciting one going on right now. We are encouraging and holding each other accountable in journaling our "successes" and "safety steps". Just like life - no lurkers, only participants.

They'll be an option for you to join the group if you haven't already. You'll probably find that option at the top middle or right hand side of the page once you get there.

See you in the discussion.

Welcome Eric,

I try to take time each week to welcome new members to 48Days.Net. So, let me say "welcome" to you! I know you will find this to be a great site filled with people who are experiencing true success in both life and work.

I'd like to point out that one of the best places to connect with other liked-minded people here is in the GROUPS section. There are groups for just about every interest you can think of, and if you can't find a group that interests you, you can start one. Groups are my favorite part of 48Days.Net!

Finally, it sounds like you are interested in writing. If so, consider joining the Write It Forward. There are some great discussions going on that will likely be very profitable for you.

Plus, you might want to check out Speak It Forward as well. It's another group I'm involved with that has a lot of activity taking place.

Again, enjoy 48Days.Net. It's a great place to be!

Live it forward,
Kent Julian
