"WordPress!!!! I'm a former Joomla guy and once I switched to WP I literally said to myself, "Why did I wait so long." Long story and I'll spare the details, but bottom line I've never looked back."

Jeff Long replied to Diane Krause's discussion Question about Joomla in the group Wordpress websites
"The Joomla projects I've been a part of have been kind of a pain and the reason the client wanted to move away from it and use WordPress was that they weren't able to customize their own site and they needed a developer to do most tasks.…"

Question about Joomla

I'm working with a publishing client and as part of her project, she wants to get a new website up and running. This whole thing is a project she started about a year ago but dropped quickly when her husband became seriously ill, so she's now picking up where she left off. In doing so, she discovered she already had a web designer start on a site for her last year. My client is now needing to decide whether to have that other designer keep going, or whether to start fresh with a new WordPress…See More

Diane Krause replied to Alan Jackson's discussion POLL QUESTION #25: Socially Speaking in the group Jump Start
"Alan,  I don't have evidence that social media has directly led to any new business, new sales or new customers. Like you, I tend to use social media with an emphasis on the social rather than the media.  But I do believe social media…"

Diane Krause replied to Alan Jackson's discussion Back to Basics in the group Jump Start
"Hi Alan,  I love the concept. But it does prompt me to ask: What does "getting back to basics" look like for you?  Later in 2013, I had set a goal to simplify. One thing I know about myself is that I love variety -- learning new…"

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
As a subscriber to Dan's 48Days newsletter, I received an announcement and invite when 48Days.net was first launched. I've been here ever since.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I am the Director of Publishing at Chart House Press, a small press located in Houston, Texas. I worked as a freelance editor before joining Chart House Press and still take on an editing or "book buddy" client when I have the time.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
My goal is to be fully self-employed and continuing to earn an income working with words.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Write and publish a novel.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I'm a planner, a thinker, an idea person and highly conceptual. I lead by example rather than delegate or lead from the front. I tend to be a quick learner and self-starter, and am a loyal team member. I have good administrative and organizational skills and am a good "people person" even though I'm more of an introvert than extrovert. I'm also a pretty decent cook.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?
More than one website?
If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
I love helping new authors with the publishing process. Whether it's getting a manuscript cleaned up and ready for publishing, or navigating the publishing path.
Feel free to share your Twitter name, Facebook page, and any other social media way to connect with you!

Slim Down Your Writing Part 2: Avoiding Expletives

Posted on May 23, 2012 at 7:37am 0 Comments

In an earlier post, Slim Down Your Writing, I discussed three easy ways to slim down and tighten up your writing: use fewer words, use the active voice, and control your use of adjectives and adverbs.

Today's post is Part 2 of slimming down and tightening up, and covers expletives. You're likely familiar with the more common definition of…

Getting to the Core

Posted on February 11, 2011 at 11:34am 0 Comments

A number of years ago, when hubby and I were dating and I was still a poor college student, he valiantly volunteered to make repairs to my car, which had a dead heater core. (If you’ve ever replaced a heater core, you may be chuckling at this point.) It’s a good thing he was smitten with me, because by the time he reached the heater core, his conclusion was that when the car was manufactured, the heater core was mounted into the empty frame, and the rest of the vehicle built around…

Blessed, No Matter What

Posted on January 28, 2011 at 7:21am 1 Comment

Today is my birthday -- not necessarily an exciting event, because I've now reached the ripe old age of 49 -- so, the celebratory aspect of today is not the point of my post here.

My day began about an hour ago, and now that lunches are made, hubby and the teenager are off to work and school, dogs and cats are fed, laundry is going, and the dishwasher is unloaded, I've sat down at my computer to finish my cup of coffee. I opened up my e-mail to find a beautiful assortment of…

Hi Diane,

Pei and I are on-fire excited about the release of my latest book, Finding your Voice and would love to have you join us in the festivities.

Dan and Joanne Miller were kind enough to let us have the book release party at their place in Franklin.
Ashley and I recently booked the date and I wanted to get the invite out as quickly as possible so you could make plans to attend. Here's the scoop.

Thank you Diane - I hope you have a blessed rest of your week as well - I am looking forward to preparing to celebrate my son Matt's 26th birthday this weekend - he and his fiance will be visiting for the weekend - so that's my main focus this week!

Diane - I had to touch base with you after last night's call - I found it pretty interesting that you mentioned several times that you were not as far along as I am - I saw your post to Rob describing where you are and where you plan to go and I thought - wow she has it so together!  I honestly went into the call feeling a little intimidated by all of you!!  Funny how we perceive ourselves in relation to others isn't it?  I look forward to getting to know you better and definitely learning from you!

Hi Diane,

Always good to hear from you and thank you for sharing.

Just curious, what are some of the "should-dos" that keep finding their way back into your thinking and quiet times?

Hi Diane,

Good to hear from you. Thank you for getting back.

So please fill me in. What are you learning or discovering about yourself?

Erin and I are incredibly excited about the release of Finding your Voice and our publishing arrangement with Sound Wisdom. We are scheduled to release on Nov 5.

By the way, here is a link to my other Finding your Voice community. For some people it works out better since you're able to post from you phone. It's a Google community which means no long lines, no time-consuming forms to fill out, one click and you are there. Take a peek when you get a chance.

Hi Diane,

Hope you're having a super day.

It looks like you've been pretty active in the community.

Here are some of the authors and experts we've had on our show. Hopefully you can find some more guidance here.
