Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love

We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.

But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.

48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.

If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.

Termites and Economics

Posted on June 8, 2010 at 12:19pm 2 Comments

Ever wonder why your dining out budget has a tendency of blowing up in your face? Or how that nebulous “miscellaneous” category in your budget inflates to two or three times what you planned?

Before you get to supply and demand in an economics class, there are two concepts you must understand. First, you live in a world of scarcity. That means that you have a limited set of resources to work with. Sounds like your paycheck; you have a set amount of money available to… Continue

You’ll Never Make Enough Money

Posted on June 3, 2010 at 11:00am 2 Comments

When you first began working as an adult, how much money did you think would be “enough”? How about after you were five years in?

Even I recall performance reviews from years past where I thought, “If I only made 10% more, it would be enough.”

Enough for what? What do you work for? Do you work to maintain a certain standard of living? Do you work because you absolutely love what you do?

Did you know that only a little over half of all workers are satisfied with… Continue

The Dog Days of Summer Spending

Posted on May 25, 2010 at 11:30am 2 Comments

Last week, I talked about the importance of preparing for vacations and travel so summer trips don’t follow you home. It got me thinking, though: summertime ushers in all sorts of expenses that aren’t typically found on the budget throughout the rest of the year. How are you preparing for them?

Aside from a summer vacation, many of us will travel for a wedding in the coming months. Taking the… Continue

Our Piggy Banks Are Losing Weight

Posted on May 12, 2010 at 10:50am 0 Comments

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was a time when people actually saved money. Indeed, they would take a certain portion of what they made from their income-producing jobs and hold it for later use.

What were these crazy people thinking? How different was their society compared to our own?

A tremendous personal financial shift occurred on the heels of the Great Depression. People – especially the young ones who grew up through the 1930s – began saving money like… Continue

Money Funnies

I can't help but laugh at some of the crazy (albeit creative) things people will do with their money. Personal finance can actually be pretty funny. Check out these links and have a laugh or two:

It's no surprise to me that SAS has been voted "best place to work" by Fortune Magazine! Just look who is making a huge contribution to their success, DEREK! :-)

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Justin Lukasavige
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I'm the Lead Financial Coach at Lukas Coaching, helping awesome people get the most out of their money and their lives.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I'd love to speak to an audience of 1,000 or more, giving them hope while laughing along the way.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I'd love to become a competent sailor. I can tie the necessary knots (thanks Boy Scouts), but want to be confident on the water in sailboats of any size.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I have a mind for numbers and streamlining processes; I spent a number of years in the banking world in business analysis, process improvement, and risk management functions.

I am (and it looks like I always will be) a tad bit Type-A. This plays to the favor of process improvement because I don't like inefficiencies nor lack of organization. Don't worry, though - I'm very gentle when I express this side of my personality!

I can offer a listening ear and an engaged mind. I also offer honesty rooted in reality - what is, is.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?
Are you interested in finding a better job, starting a business, growing your current business, writing a book, blogging, podcasting, coaching, speaking, sales & marketing, or something else?
If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
We're encouraged to dream when we're young, but somewhere along the way we forget how. I serve others by helping them recapture their dreams, incorporating those dreams into goals, and developing a plan to reach those goals. Personal finance is exactly that: it's personal. When I'm working with clients, we go beyond the numbers and dig into spiritual, relational, and emotional undercurrents. This is bigger than math; it's about life!
