How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Heard through Dave Ramsey. As an ordained minister, business owner, I am looking for imput and ideas on a new venture I am about to launch.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I am a self-employed masonry contractor.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
Starting an on-line nation-wide business to support and supply job/work possibilities for bi-vocational ministers, or "Tentmakers."
Also, as a father of a profoundly handicapped son, as a minister of over 30 years (12 as a senior pastor) use the above business/ministry platform to support and promote special needs ministries in the local churches from both a Pastor and a Parent perspective.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
1. Finish home remodel.
2. Become completely debt free!
3. International travel/missions outreaches
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am an encourager! As a pastor my mission was to reach, teach, equip, and release people to fulfill their created prupose in life!
I am a team player, flexible, idea person, embrace change, love variety, rejoice in others' success, embrace hard work/physical challenges.
If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
While running my own construction business, ministering to individuals (and their families) with special needs, I became keenly aware (obsessed?) by a NEED, a CHALLENGE, and an OPPORTUNITY. The NEED; There are tens of thousands of licensed and ordained minister, affected by today's economy, needing to augment ministry income or even fully support their "voluntary ministry" through non-ministry avenues of employment or work. THE CHALLENGE; Put together a resource vehicle that would match skilled and qualified workers, who happen to be credentialed minister or spouses, with businesses and individuals in their communities who need and are looking for their particular skill sets. Bigger challenge; moving this from concept to reality! THE OPPORTUNITY; Building TENTMAKER FELLOWSHIP into a self-supporting, ministry based (for profit or non-profit, not sure yet)business/corporation, whose purpose is to assist bi-vocational ministers in finding affordable, productive solutions to today's competitive and expensive job/business market. MY BACKGROUND; As a third generation bi-vacational minister, I am experienced and knowledgeable about the challenges of "Tentmaking". While privelaged to have served 12 of my over 30 years of ministry experience in full-salaried positions, the remainder of my ministry years have been in part-pay or volunteer (NO pay) ministry positions. My father, Rev. Chet Kenworthy, was an ordained minister for over 60 years, most of it as a TENTMAKER (carpenter). My grandfather, Rev. MM York, was a cowboy by profession, school bus driver by necessity, and a pioneer Pastor by calling! Some of the most influencial ministers in my upbringing were also loggers, millwrights, masons, carpenters, ranchers, truckers, nurses, teachers, etc; all willing to do just about anything and go anywhere to fulfill the call of God on their lives. Just as my wife, Donnell, and I have answered the Call to minister to individuals (and their families) with special needs, a current position with no pay, we recognize the significance of the "Callings" and of the courage of those in similar "pioneer" fields of ministry where financial support, while appreciated, is not the primary motivating factor. It is my belief that there is no such thing as a "part time minister." after all, Paul was not a "part-time-Apostle" while he made tents to support his ministry in Corinth. In much the same way, a husband is always a husband, whether on the job, on the golf course, playing with the kids, or on a date with his wife, a minister is always a minister, with every decision, activity, conversation, or relationship fully and forever impacted by this reality. TENTMAKER FELLOWSHIP was founded to honor and assist those called to minister in unique circumstances which may, or may not, become self-supporting in the future. TENTMAKER FELLOWSHIP'S goal, and mine, is to partner with other TENTMAKERS in answering God's call by helping meet the financial challenges through prayer, encouragement, and by providing access to the potential thousands of individuals and businesses in their region who need their talents and skills.
