DanielHayes replied to Celeste & Phil Davis's discussion Webinar Jam and Mac in the group Podcasting And New Media
"Yes...I meant the letter "x" on the keyboard. No expert here either...I just have had the same issue when presenting on a different screen and thought maybe the same thing was happening with WebinarJam. Sorry I couldn't be more help. "

DanielHayes replied to Celeste & Phil Davis's discussion Webinar Jam and Mac in the group Podcasting And New Media
"Have you tried hitting the "X" key on your Mac? That's how you switch screens when in Presenter mode. X toggles you between Presenter Notes and the standard Play display that the crowd sees. Let us know, and good luck!"

DanielHayes replied to Tom Ballard's discussion Video mic for iPhone in the group Podcasting And New Media
"BTW...there are plenty of videos on YouTube about cutting your earbuds. Just search "free lavalier mic" and you'll find about 10 vids."

DanielHayes replied to Tom Ballard's discussion Video mic for iPhone in the group Podcasting And New Media
"Tom- The iPhone is a great tool for quick videos! Good on you for using what you have. That said, I've used the $26 AudioTechnica lavalier mic, Radio Shack's version of the same one, and the best thing I've found is just using the mic…"

DanielHayes replied to Phil Ladden's discussion iTunes tagging in the group Podcasting And New Media
"Phil- Yes, you should move the file to you iTunes first. If it's a .wav, then make a .mp3 version. Once it's done, you can edit your ID3 tags. Then, in Libsyn, use the Replace This File option. Upload, copy the link to the media section of…"

DanielHayes replied to Brett Gereau's discussion Skype vs Telephone Interviews in the group Podcasting And New Media
"Yes, just get a Skype phone number for about $5 a month, have them call that and record just as you normally would."

DanielHayes replied to Kent Sanders's discussion What my podcast stats are telling me about my audience in the group Podcasting And New Media
"My pleasure, Kent! Glad to help. Trust me, I've made the same mistakes before. I've even gone back and change the title of one episode that I had absolutely butchered. Of all our episodes, this one was getting like 30-40 fewer downloads…"

DanielHayes replied to Kent Sanders's discussion What my podcast stats are telling me about my audience in the group Podcasting And New Media
"Kent- I ask you to consider this: If your downloads very that much, take a look at your episode titles. Remember, subscribers get every episode, so whatever those numbers are is a wash. Next, people don't know the true content until AFTER they…"

DanielHayes replied to rheal gauthier's discussion Blue Yeti in the group Podcasting And New Media
"The Blue Yeti is a Condenser microphone. Sure, you could podcast with it but your podcast space better be very sound absorbing. You'll get lots of background noise. Dynamic microphones, such as the Heil PR-40 on the higher end and the…"

DanielHayes replied to Tony Robinson's discussion Starting a New Podcast! Should I interview or create my own content? in the group Podcasting And New Media
"Why not do both? That's what we do on our show. Every 5-6 episodes we have a guest. We get them to share their expertise with our audience and the audience gets to hear a fresh perspective now and then. As for questions, we always start with…"

DanielHayes replied to Robby Robbins's discussion Podcast listing on my site issue in the group Podcasting And New Media
"Are you hosting with Libsyn?  If so, are you taking the file URL from Libsyn and inserting that in the "Podcast Episode" block at the bottom of your post page on the dashboard?  Then verifying it?"

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I've been listening to Dan for about 4 years. I think it's great to be part of a like minded community to grow and contribute. Hoping to find that here!
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Retired from first career, self employed doing tech/media consulting.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I have (and am growing) a lifestyle supporting business that helps companies understand and integrate technology. The things I find company leadership most interested are building company relationships and exploiting new technology to do that. That's where I come in.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
My wife and I have a new podcast at http://SimpleLifeTogether.com where we discuss simplifying our lives and give some tips to others who are trying to do that too. We really have no intention to monetize that...we just really, really have fun doing it together. Our dream is to scale down to a home of about 1000 sq feet and be able to travel when they kids are off for vacation and summer breaks. Essentially, lots of family, fun, adventure and opportunities to learn and grow.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I "get" tech and am told I am good at breaking difficult things down so they are easy for others to understand. I do have a teaching background and also lots of time in leadership positions. I also tend to make a work environment "fun" but productive.

I'm pretty competent at Wordpress, the Google suite, Google+, etc, so if you need any help or want to run a question by me I hope I can help.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
I know a lot of folks here are just starting out on their own journey toward self employment and know that can be difficult. My goal is to be helpful in the forums. If that leads to additional "client work" that's great...but I'm primarily here to share and learn, not mine for business. Thanks!
