Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love

We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.

But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.

48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.

If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Through my wife Debbie, who is also known as "The Organizing Genie", a member of the 212 Connection as well as the 48 days community.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
My current work situation is a blessing and a curse. In this economy I am blessed to have a full-time position as a retail manager which allows me to support my family. The curse is that I am miserable in this position. I know I am not living my life purpose and as the years go by I resent this position more and more. I work very long hours which doesn't allow time for me to further pursue my dream job (my second job.)

My second job is my dream job. For the past 28 years I have freelanced as a part time sports writer for the Community Newspaper Company. This experience led me to write and self-publish 3 children’s sport themed books. These two writing opportunities are what keep my dreams alive and gives me hope for the future.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
While many struggle to find answers to what their life purpose, dreams and goals are, I've always known the answer to mine - Sports Journalism for adults and children.

Unfortunately, newspapers are a dying breed which has affected the amount of stories I'm paid to write. Seeing the writing on the wall, I need to turn my focus more towards pursuing a sports career writing for an online publication or even a professional sports team, St. Louis Rams, can you hear now?

My biggest goal is to have my children's books picked up by a major book publisher and to paid to continue writing sports themed stories for children.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
My wife and I have worked so hard for too long at jobs that have left us unfulfilled in our professional lives, but we did what we had to do to support and provide for our family. By 2010, both of our children will be college graduates and it is my dream to have my wife and I enjoy the rest of our lives by finally allowing us to pursue work that we love. We both share a dream of one day taking a long road trip traveling to all the beautiful national parks throughout this great nation.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am wired as a writer, esp. creating and writing about sports related topics. As a retail manager, like my wife, I have any eye for organization and merchandising which has led me to win many merchandising awards through my workplace. If given the chance, I would love to continue writing children's books. I know I am making a difference in children's lives by providing them stories filled with inspirational and positive messages.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?
If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
Golden Ram Press is a small publishing company that features my series of 3 sports themed books for children filled with inspirational and positive messages for children ages 6-12. My latest book "Beyond The Dragon", written from the perspective of a child with Asperger Syndrome has been praised as "Another 'Hail Mary' Story" ..."Beyond the Dragon is another 'Hail Mary' Story. Robbie is an inspirational character that gives all kids with Aspergers as well as parents, coaches and teachers the hope that they can achieve their goals if they work hard and are surrounded by a supportive team. This story is also an important lesson for kids to accept and encourage all teammates no matter what their abilities are." Doug Flutie, Co-Founder, The Doug Flutie , Jr. Foundation for Autism Inc.

Hey Christopher, so nice to find another RI'er here on 48 Days.  It looks like things are a little slow over here.  Are you hanging out at other more active social media playgrounds?

Would love to learn more about you and what you do.  Let's "connect"  D
