How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I heard about 48Days.Net from Dan Miller. My goal is to build relationships with others by helping them in my area of expertise as well as learning from their business and personal experiences.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
My business (Services Etc.) provides personalized bookkeeping services for individuals and businesses. As a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, I also setup & customize QuickBooks files and provide on-going training & support.

I also work part-time for Brightstone, Inc., a non-profit ministry that helps adults with special needs in Franklin, TN.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I love what I do and the flexibility it provides. My goal in business as well as personally is to use whatever gifts I have to serve others faithfully (I Peter 4:10).

In the future, I would like to develop some kind of ongoing residual income instead of having to physically work for every dollar earned.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Along with the above, my desire is to serve God faithfully and be debt free! My husband and I went through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and it has changed our lives. Dave's common sense material keeps my feet on the ground while Dan's inspiration lets my dreams soar to believe that all things are possible!
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am practical, detail oriented and like dealing with facts and completing tasks. My strengths are in problem solving and organization.

If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
I am a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and specialize in finding ways that businesses can save money and operate more efficiently.

E-mail Management 101

Posted on December 12, 2010 at 7:30pm 2 Comments

"Help! I'm overwhelmed with e-mails!" Is this how you feel sometimes...OK, maybe a lot. Managing personal, client, general and even junk e-mail can be overwhelming and searching for a saved e-mail can consume valuable time. Beyond the general tips like setting up folders to file e-mails and prioritizing them, I have implemented a unique system to help me manage e-mails more efficiently.

I receive numerous e-mails containing generic subject line titles such as,…

Common Sense Has Died!

Posted on November 21, 2010 at 5:30pm 0 Comments

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more… Continue

Perseverance to Finish

This video clip from the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics demonstrates how important perseverance is to finish a goal in spite of the difficulty. Derek Redmond was determined to finish the 400-meter race even though he was injured. He didn't finish first, but he did… Continue

Employee vs. Independent Contractor - What's the difference?

Posted on September 27, 2009 at 1:00pm 2 Comments

Contracting the services of others is the easiest and most cost effective way to hire someone to help you in your business, but you must make sure that anyone hired is paid according to IRS guidelines. The IRS evaluates whether someone is an employee or independent contractor based on three main categories: behavioral control, financial control, and relationship of the parties. The two links below will explain these categories in detail and direct you to the necessary forms used when you hire… Continue

We all know or knew someone like this!!

Posted on September 19, 2009 at 8:27am 1 Comment

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, 'Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd.'

I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him,… Continue

This is the day which the LORD hath made – be glad in it!

This powerful devotional written by Jack Van Impe is simply titled THE DAY. It will really make you think about the importance of what you do and say everyday. Appreciate and be thankful for every day you have been blessed to live and enjoy it!

“Today comes only once in a lifetime. What a tragedy to waste 24 hours of life complaining about the weather or looking for the faults in people. This precious segment of time is given to use and enjoy. It will never return. Once spent… Continue

The Lord Is My Real Boss and I Shall Not Want

Posted on July 2, 2009 at 5:58pm 1 Comment

The Lord is my real boss and I shall not want.

He gives me peace, when chaos is all around me.

He gently reminds me to pray and do all things

without murmuring and complaining.

He reminds me that He is my Source and not my job.

He restores my sanity every day and guides my decisions that I

might honor Him in everything I do.

Even though I face absurd amounts of emails,

System crashes, unrealistic deadlines, budget cutbacks,… Continue

Backup your computer every day or one day you may be sorry that you didn't!

Posted on June 25, 2009 at 4:19pm 1 Comment

One of the first things I do in working with small businesses is to make sure that they have a good backup procedure in place for their computer. Many times I find that they do nothing to protect their data or only backup occasionally. Fortunately, most haven't experienced any data loss. (Although, I have been told some very expensive horror stores - kind of like the Mozy commercials you see on TV.) Up until recently I have used a firewire drive for my Mac and an external hard drive for my PC,… Continue
