Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Found Dan online, then interviewed him in 2013, then met him in 2014 in Franklin. I hope to offer lots of advice and inspiration and get creative energy in return.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I've been self-employed much of my adult life - most recently since 2004. I've been a published author since 1992. I create resources on marketing and personal empowerment for musicians, authors, and more.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
To help musicians, authors and creative entrepreneurs use their talents and know-how to make a living and make a difference in the world!
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
To travel a bit more and build a stronger live event component to my business and publishing efforts.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I love creativity of all stripes and am active with many things. I play music (as a guitarist, singer, songwriter with a rock and roll background), write and publish books, do visual art with acrylic paint, teach and perform improv comedy, etc. I think I have a healthy balance of introvert and extrovert activities.

Hi Bob - Welcome to the 48 Days community. We're glad you joined.

This is the idea and social networking site for people that want to create their own opportunity or find the work they love.

I've been a coach under Dan's tutelage for about seven years and have been a member of this community since pretty much day one.

There is a wide selection of discussion groups to get involved with. If you'd like to take a peek at mine, "Raise your Game", here you go

An easy way to get started is by visiting the handy get started tutorial page. You'll find how-to videos and suggestions.

In gratitude,

-joel

Welcome Bob,

I try to take time each week to welcome new members to 48Days.Net. So, let me say "welcome" to you! I know you will find this to be a great site filled with people who are experiencing true success in both life and work.

I'd like to point out that one of the best places to connect with other liked-minded people here is in the GROUPS section. There are groups for just about every interest you can think of, and if you can't find a group that interests you, you can start one. Groups are my favorite part of 48Days.Net!

Finally, it sounds like you are interested in writing. If so, consider joining the Write It Forward. There are some great discussions going on that will likely be very profitable for you.

Plus, you might want to check out Speak It Forward as well. It's another group I'm involved with that has a lot of activity taking place.

Again, enjoy 48Days.Net. It's a great place to be!

Live it forward,
Kent Julian

Marketing Lessons from the Onion

Posted on August 5, 2015 at 7:04pm 1 Comment

I don’t know about you, but I have loved TheOnion.com and its hilarious fake news stories for many years. It’s not only a great source of humor; it also provides a valuable marketing lesson we could all make good use of …

A few years ago I heard an interview with some of The Onion's editors on NPR. They talked about the writing…

Overcoming the ‘Lack of Money’ Excuse

Here’s a classic excuse that writers (and creative people of all kinds) use all the time. Do any of these sound familiar?

  • “I’d do a lot more with my book if I had more money to invest in it.”
  • “It takes money to make…
