What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
After being in the work force for over 25 yrs, an accident at home left me partially disabled. I currently sell items from home via websites. This includes items I have purchased for resale as well as items that I have made. While that might technically be self-employed, I want to be more successful. Right now, I am not generating enough income to cover costs. That needs to change, and I hope to learn from others here.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I want to become a financial contributor to our family again while working from home. I can no longer leave the house for a 9-5 job, but I do have talents and skills that can help other people. I want to build a company that can not only contribute financially, but become a family business. I want this to be bigger than just me.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Yes! I am actively seeking help in getting some dental problems fixed so I can not only feel better physically, but mentally as well. Past that, I dream of creating a business that will eventually allow my husband to quit working his job, and we can work together running this business from home.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am wired to be very attentive to details, artistic and creative. After working in the accounting field for 20 yrs, that detail-oriented mind is useful when it comes to programming for the internet. I have always been creative and artistic as well, doing many forms of crafts over the years including painting, fiber arts, etc. The mesh of my creative side and detail side have blended to make me a perfect fit for web graphic work. I listen to the customers, can envision their vision, and help them get the appearance they want for their site or online store. The accounting/bean counter side of me means that I don't mind the often-endless tweaking that needs to take place to get a final product the customer loves. I am also very comfortable with the written word. I love to both write and edit, and find this helps my customers as well. I've often been able to reword something to make their descriptions easier to read.
Hello everyone - I appreciate the welcoming emails and comments. I'm sorry I haven't had much time to spend on the boards here lately. A combination of health problems and leaking water problems where we live have kept me running in a few other directions in the last few months.
A step at a time, I'll get caught up to speed.
I didn't want anyone to think I was igoring them!
