What marketing tip worked best for your book?

Hey guys,After 2-3 years of polishing the manuscript, my ebook (which will only be on Kindle) 'The Nun Diaries: Why I Was a One-Year Nun' is finished. I am just waiting (and waiting) for it to come back from the layout person and it's ready to go.Now here comes the challenge I never thought about while writing it: how in Hades do I market it? My marketing budget is a firm $0. I am not paying for testimonials for to have big name bloggers read/cross-promote it.This is a 75-page memoir is about…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I heard of this community through the book. I love the fact this is a supportive, non-judgmental place to bounce ideas off people and to meet other folks who want to make their work fun and profitable.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I have a master's in French literature and teaching credentials. I work for my State government and I just started my own freelance translation/editing/writing business (Indigo Prairie Press & Writing Services) on the side.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I like my day job because it allows me to combine my love of politics, statistics, Spanish and attention to detail, but I am hustling to see how far I can take this freelance gig. Oh, to have the income to run back away to Europe...
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
Running another 5K after ankle surgery, publishing my first book after many stops and starts and getting RID of DEBT!!!
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
Gallup says I am Input, Empathy, Intellection, Developer and Context. On the DISC scale, I am a very high C, a high S and a low D and I. I am in the process of unpacking what the means :)

Basically I like language and all the gifts it brings. Whether it's translating, creating my own content or helping someone refine their words to get their message across, the power of words is where it's at & where I love to be!

Random fun facts: I have double jointed elbows and can recite all the British monarchs from memory.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
I help individuals and small businesses polish their written communication by editing, writing or translating so they can convey their message to their target audience.

Welcome Ann!

I try to take time each week to welcome new members to 48Days.Net. So, let me say "welcome" to you! I know you will find this to be a great site filled with people who are experiencing true success in both life and work.

Also, I'd like to point out that one of the best places to connect with other liked-minded people here is in the GROUPS section. There are groups for just about every interest you can think of, and if you can't find a group that interests you, you can start one. Groups are my favorite part of 48Days.Net!

Finally, if you happen to be a speaker or author (or want to become either), check out these two groups. They are two of the most popular groups on the site because of all the great conversation taking place:

* Speak It Forward -- REAL Success and Profit for Speakers!
* Write It Forward -- REAL Success and Profit for Writers!

Again, enjoy 48Days.Net. It's a great place to be!

Live it forward,
Kent Julian
