"There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible.
We just take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort
of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn, and they
create new and curious combinations. We keep turning
making new patterns, but they are the same old pieces
of glass that have been in use throughout all the years."
--Mark Twain

If you’re new to the 48Days.net community – welcome. This is an amazing group of people who are not content with mediocrity in their work – or anywhere in their lives. You’ll find the members here share their resources and expertise willingly and also share your excitement when you succeed.

We are seeing an explosion of books being published, speakers being booked, coaches filling their schedules, artists finding new ways to market their work, musicians leveraging their talent and creative businesses from podcasting to dry cleaning pickup to muscle car restoration being launched successfully.

I’m thrilled as I see more people who are finding their true calling and applying that in work that is meaningful, purposeful – and profitable. If you’re still in that process, be encouraged; you can do what many others here have done.

Ashley just reminded me our next Write to the Bank live event here at the Sanctuary is coming up August 2-3rd. This is our most popular and least expensive live event. We cap it at 48 participants and always have a waiting list for future events. Don’t miss securing your seat for this fun event if you write but want to know how to make money with your writing. Check the link for photo shots to see lots of your friends who have attended.

Each week we feature some of our favorite forum discussions, blogs, groups and members in the Notes on the front page. Please note that those who are featured and highlighted are always selected from those who have a clear picture, are active here in this community and are adding valuable content in some way. No magic or inside track – those are the things we look for.

This week we're highlighting:

Featured DiscussionWesley Mosher asked a question many of you are asking: When to make the leap to full-time self-employment? He’s building an appliance and TV repair service business, growing his customer list and excited about what’s developing. He wants to know if he should use a deadline date or use a monetary goal for making the decision to switch. Share what you did in making that move.

Featured BlogHate your job? 3 tips to change that. Many of us work all day, dreading the time spent in our environments from hour to hour and still continue to do it as if somehow things will get better on their own one day. Jeff Pattison gives us some practical tips on how you can start making changes right now and alter your career options for the better.

Featured Group – our featured group this week is DIY e-Publishing, lead by Tony DiLorenzo. The purpose of DIY e-Publishing is to give strategic advice to those who are writing a book or have written a book and looking to have their book published in Amazon Kindle, BN Nook, or Apple iBook. This is a great way to get in the game and build an audience for your business. Tony’s got some free video tutorials and can help you even with details like getting your ISBN and tax ID.

Featured Member – our featured member this week is Jen McDonough from Lindstrom, MN. I don’t know of anyone who is more active in the 48Days.net community than Jen. She has attended numerous live events, is just completing her second book and is an amazing example of her business name – Live Beyond Awesome. Jen is quick to ask for advice and is also quick to offer encouragement and support to anyone who needs it. If you need a fresh dose of confidence that you can make your dreams come true, just spend a little time with Jen.

We are going to be sending out a survey in the next few days regarding enhancing features and benefits for the 48Days.net community.  We want your feedback on what would help you accelerate your success even more.  Be watching for that –

My recommendation for activity to show us you’re in the game:

  • Comment on at least two forum questions each week
  • Write a blog at least once a week – and when you do, comment on three posts written by others
  • Be active in 2-3 groups that fit your areas of passion
  • Attend 1-2 major conferences each year
  • Read one great book each month

I challenge you to do these things and not double your success rate in one year.

Have you considered joining us for the Wisdom meets Passion Cruise in February?  The book isn’t even out yet but we’re planning lots of fun things based on the concepts.  The cruise will be leaving from Miami, going down to San Juan and then on to St. Thomas and a couple other Caribbean islands.  There’s nothing like rubbing shoulders with other winners for a week to explore your ideas and belief in new possibilities.

Be strategic about the steps you're taking to move you closer to success.  It's not luck - it's focused action.

Have a spectacular week - Dan Miller
