The Law of the Harvest - what seeds have you planted?

Robert Louis Stevenson once said – “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” Many of you have been planting seeds and now you’re wondering if they are germinating and preparing to grow or if they’re dead in the ground. Read on to the end of this note to see more of my comments on The Law of the Harvest.

If you’re new to the 48Days.net community – welcome. This is an amazing group of people who are not content with mediocrity in their work – or anywhere in their lives. You’ll find the members here share their resources and expertise willingly and also share your excitement when you succeed.

We are seeing an explosion of books being published, speakers being booked, coaches filling their schedules, artists finding new ways to market their work, musicians leveraging their talent and creative businesses from podcasting to dry cleaning pickup to muscle car restoration being launched successfully.

I’m thrilled as I see more people who are finding their true calling and applying that in work that is meaningful, purposeful – and profitable. If you’re still in that process, be encouraged; you can do what many others here have done.

Ashley just reminded me our next Coaching with Excellence live event here at the Sanctuary is coming up September 13-14th. In this intensive two-day event, we will fully assess your coaching business – how to get started, establishing and promoting your business, and ways to generate additional income beyond one-on-one coaching. Don’t miss securing your seat for this fun event if you write but want to know how to make money with that. Check the link for photo shots to see lots of your friends who have attended.

Each week we feature some of our favorite forum discussions, blogs, groups and members in the Notes on the front page. Please note that those who are featured and highlighted are always selected from those who have a clear picture, are active here in this community and are adding valuable content in some way. No magic or inside track – those are the things we look for.

This week we're highlighting:

Featured DiscussionJake Bauer started a very interesting discussion with his post – Monetizing a Sports Blog. He had questions about using the Green Bay Packer name without infringing on NFL copyrights and how to generate income from product sales or advertising. This is a growing issue for all of us bloggers and podcasters – trying to figure out how to make money doing what we love doing. Members jumped in with helpful advice. Check out the discussion and add your two cents worth.

Featured Blog -- Brian Ives posted a thought-provoking piece in Making Myself Behave. Time is going to move forward no matter what; it’s not waiting for us. Brian explains to us that we cannot manage time, however we can manage ourselves and make the right choice in how we invest ourselves with the time we have.

Featured Group – our featured group this week is led by Lynne Watts and is called A Called Woman. This is a group designed for women who want to turn their dreams and passions into reality. The name tells us it’s for women who want to more fully live out their calling. Members are sharing how they are releasing their artistic and creative talents, which seminars and books have been most helpful and the challenges of “marketing ” a God-given ability.

Featured Member – our featured member this week is Derek Olsen from Kansas City, MO. Derek quit his job 3 months after reading 48 Days to the Work You Love and has been on a blitz of writing, speaking and developing products since then. His newest product is the Four Week Financial Turnaround Workbook. Just click on the link to get involved. Don’t just be a spectator; help Derek get the work out.
Here’s the principle – it’s pretty simple. When you help someone else, they will return the favor when you are promoting a product or service.

The Law of the Harvest

Right now I’m promoting the release of Wisdom Meets Passion. The biggest promoters of this release, the ones who are talking about it the most, are people who I’ve promoted books and products for in the past. In Biblical terms it’s called The Law of the Harvest. If you plant a kernel of corn you don’t get back one kernel – you get back a whole ear. The Law of the Harvest is often thought of in negative terms – where if you say something mean about someone it’s likely to come back tenfold. But the wonderful thing about The Law of the Harvest is that it works in positive ways as well. I have always tried to be generous with knowledge and resources of any kind that I have. And now I experience daily that people want to help me in thousands of ways. The ripple effect goes far beyond the tiny seeds I planted. That the beauty of The Law of the Harvest – and we can all be the beneficiaries of that principle.
