Discontent is the first necessity of progress. - Thomas A. Edison

Don't try to bury your discontentment - see it as a prod to something better.

If you’re new to the 48Days.net community – welcome. This is an amazing group of people who are not content with mediocrity in their work – or anywhere in their lives. You’ll find the members here share their resources and expertise willingly and also share your excitement when you succeed.

We are seeing an explosion of books being published, speakers being booked, coaches filling their schedules, artists finding new ways to market their work, musicians leveraging their talent and creative businesses from podcasting to dry cleaning pickup to muscle car restoration being launched successfully.

I’m thrilled as I see more people who are finding their true calling and applying that in work that is meaningful, purposeful – and profitable. If you’re still in that process, be encouraged; you can do what many others here have done.

Each week we feature some of our favorite forum discussions, blogs, groups and members in the Notes on the front page. Please note that those who are featured and highlighted are always selected from those who have a clear picture, are active here in this community and are adding valuable content in some way. No magic or inside track – those are the things we look for.

Just a couple of quick notes about involvement in 48Days.net

  • Don't block blog comments.  I'm always surprised at the frequency with which I comment on someone's blog, only to be told that person has to approve the comment before it will be seen.  (And frequently it never is)  That teaches people real quickly not to bother commenting on your blog.  Come on, is there really that much risk in just letting people make their spontaneous comments?
  • Stay in the conversation.  Often I see someone start a conversation by posting a forum question or blog and then they never come back to engage with those who comment.  Again - that's a real disincentive for anyone to respond to your questions.  Stay in the conversation!

This week we're highlighting:

Featured DiscussionRyan Eggenberger is asking how the rest of us are using Facebook for Business.
If you’ve been confused about how to use Facebook for your business, join this conversation. Members are already sharing that the effective use of Facebook depends on what kind of business you have and what you’re trying to accomplish. No one social media tool is a magic pill for any of our businesses. But we need to have a basic understanding to then choose which 4 or 5 things we are going to use consistently. Add your thoughts to this conversation.

Featured Blog – It may have been a long, disappointing week for you as you read this. Maybe you’ve been facing some real difficulties and challenges and feel you just can’t go on another minute unless something changes. Well, Mark J. Cundiff has offered some very powerful encouragement in his post, Are You Going to Give Up? I guarantee once you read this you will be fired up all over again!

Featured Group – our featured group this week is Leadership Growth, led by Deb Ingino. None of us will be successful in our career or business unless we are an effective leader. Deb has had a long and successful career in corporate leadership before launching this group and her own business. As a member of this group you’ll get access to a free webinar each Monday evening – on being a leader others want to follow.

Featured Member – this week we’re featuring Chad Pennycuff from South Lyon, MI as the member of the week. Chad positions himself as the Penny Coach as he coaches, writes, and creates new curriculum. He just attended the Write to the Bank live event here at the Sanctuary. And he’s also attended the Coaching with Excellence event, the 212 Connection, the No More Mondays Cruise and the original Fantastic Friday event. Chad says that it typically costs him $800-900 to come down to Tennessee for these events but that he always makes an extra $3000-5000 immediately thereafter by utilizing the new ideas he gets. Now there’s a formula for you: would you spend $800 to get $5000? Surprisingly, some people would not.

*****************************

I’m always looking for new conferences I can go to – for the same reason Chad does. I know I will likely get a 10times return on my investment. On August 15-16th Kent Julian and I will be attending this conference in Atlanta, GA. I can’t even find a clear title – but the teasers say “We will be known by the problems we solve.” Plywood Presents at the Buckhead Theatre – bringing together Creatives, Business Leaders & Nonprofit Activists. I don't know any of the presenters but it looks like an interesting group.  Kent and I will be going to dinner together Wednesday evening, August 15th and would be happy to meet up with anyone else attending this conference. Just let us know – (dan@48Days.com) and we’ll pick a spot for dinner together to brainstorm and catch up.

Also - I want to mention a new group based on my upcoming book - Wisdom meets Passion.  Justin Lukasavige has started a group to keep you informed of some cool things coming up.  Just click on the Wisdom meets Passion group and join - we'll be making some announcements yet this week.  Official release date is August 28th but you'll be privy to the advance scoop.

Keep doing the things needed to put you on your path to success!
