Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love
We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.
But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.
48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.
If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.
If you’re new to the 48Days.net community – welcome. As you'll see in the notes below this is an amazing group of people who are not content with mediocrity in their work – or anywhere in their lives. You’ll find the members here share their resources and expertise willingly and also share your excitement when you succeed.
We are seeing an explosion of books being published, speakers being booked, coaches filling their schedules, artists finding new ways to market their work, musicians leveraging their talent and creative businesses from podcasting to dry cleaning pickup to muscle car restoration being launched successfully.
I’m thrilled as I see more people who are finding their true calling and applying that in work that is meaningful, purposeful – and profitable. If you’re still in that process, be encouraged; you can do what many others here have done.
Each week we feature some of our favorite forum discussions, blogs, groups and members in the Notes on the front page. Please note that those who are featured and highlighted are always selected from those who have a clear picture, are active here in this community and are adding valuable content in some way. No magic or inside track – those are the things we look for.
This week we're highlighting:
Featured Discussion – Matt Jones is asking a question many of you may have in Please help me to discover my purpose! And while he has some ideas about direction, Matt has rejected some of his top possibilities because of the money required to get there, or the lack of money likely to be generated once he does get there. Members are jumping in to give him some advice. How did you find your “purpose?” How did you get past the obstacles Matt is facing?
Featured Blog - Be Selfish at 5AM. Are you having trouble finding the time and energy to get your most important things done? Raun Lauterbach shares that most people have more energy at the beginning of the day than at the end and that it’s important to be selfish with those crucial hours of productivity. How are you spending those hours and being intentional about minimizing interruptions?
Featured Group – Camden Ross heads up a group that consistently has a whole lot of activity - Strengthen My Spiritual Life. Camden shares his own personal journey and leads some great discussions on how we all can “encourage, inspire, uplift, and challenge each other to live our faith in our daily lives.” If you need encouragement or have some wisdom to share, join this vibrant group.
Featured Member - our featured member this week is Dr. David Powers from Surfside Beach, SC. David has been an integral part of the 48 Days community for several years, has attended multiple live events, and has multiple businesses up and running. And I must mention that he forever put himself on my list of memorable people by purchasing and framing an original copy of The Strangest Secret audio, which I now have proudly hung on my office wall.
But here’s the latest from David that I just had to share:
After reading your Friday update I just wanted to put my name in the mix for highlighting those of us who mix work and play so much they seem the same. I just flew out to Utah to purchase a comic book collection and drove it home in a moving truck. The purchase included over 40,000 books and collectibles, which makes me the owner of the largest private comic book collection in South Carolina.
The work part- I had to drive an overloaded moving truck cross-country. I'm cataloguing them for resell. My numbers are looking at tripling the purchase price.
The play part- I got to drive cross-country (again)! I'm also a geek at heart so getting the chance to lay hands on all these comics is a dream. I sold my first collection to pay for undergraduate schooling, so this is almost like getting it all back again. Even with the profit I hope to make, I'll still be pulling quite a few significant comics from this batch for my personal collection.
I wrote about it in my blog if you'd like to check it out more- Embrace the Disaster or Stay Home and Cry
Now there's an example of jumping in the game. No watching from the sidelines!
Here's a quotation I read last week:
“Monotony is the awful reward of the careful.” A. G. Buckham.
If you want to grow and change, you must stretch the edges of what is safe and predictable. Thanks for being part of this community where we are all growing and changing - and making the world a better place - Dan Miller
