Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love
We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.
But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.
48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.
If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.
Hello - I trust you're having a wonderful fall - as you are planning the spring you want in 2013.
If you’re new to the 48Days.net community – welcome. This is an amazing group of people who are not content with mediocrity in their work – or anywhere in their lives. You’ll find the members here share their resources and expertise willingly and also share your excitement when you succeed.
We are seeing an explosion of books being published, speakers being booked, coaches filling their schedules, artists finding new ways to market their work, musicians leveraging their talent and creative businesses from podcasting to dry cleaning pickup to muscle car restoration being launched successfully.
I’m thrilled as I see more people who are finding their true calling and applying that in work that is meaningful, purposeful – and profitable. If you’re still in that process, be encouraged; you can do what many others here have done.
Each week we feature some of our favorite forum discussions, blogs, groups and members in the Notes on the front page. Please note that those who are featured and highlighted are always selected from those who have a clear picture, are active here in this community and are adding valuable content in some way. No magic or inside track – those are the things we look for.
This week we're highlighting:
Featured Discussion – Nick Schaub was just laid off and is looking for a little advice. How do you find people to send letters of introduction? Nick says the last time he tried to network and find people – but “My experience was that most people were either annoyed I contacted them, or told me to just apply on the company website. Can anyone help? What can I do better this time? I've identified my target companies, so how do I find people receptive to letters of introduction?” Members jumped in with advice for Nick. Can you add to the conversation here?
Featured Blog – Self Doubt, a little can be good!Confidence is huge, but at the same time over-confidence might prevent growth. It’s like the analogy of someone’s cup being too full that there’s no room for anything else. Chris Conley tells us that ‘a little’ Self Doubt can be a good thing.
Featured Group – Cliff Ravenscraft heads up this week’s featured group - Podcasting And New Media. Some groups are primarily for social connection with like-minded people. This one is a like a MBA in one focused topic – podcasting. Many of you are the recipients of Cliff’s coaching and teaching. He jumped into podcasting early in the game and has truly established himself as the PodcastAnswerMan. He selected and installed every piece of my podcasting equipment and I’ve found being part of this group an invaluable part of keeping me up to speed for the most important piece of our 48Days marketing. If you’re using any technology to expand your business you definitely want to be part of this group.
Featured Member – our featured member this week is Lesley Sobeck from Augusta, ME. Lesley is currently an optometrist as well as a regular blogger and commenter here in the 48Days.net community. She provides a beautiful description of her the dream she’s moving toward in her profile: “I do enjoy my career as an optometrist, but I feel as if a part of me is missing. I've had to become so scientific and factual with this line of work that I feel my creative side has been all but snuffed out. When I was younger I loved reading, writing, drawing and photography. I loved spending hours outside and taking in the beauty of the world around me and enjoying the quiet and solitude of nature. Now I spend my days in a dark little room with no windows. I don't want to leave my career, but I would like to create more balance in my life allowing time to soak up the sunlight and nurture the creative side of me.” We’re watching the transformation taking place Lesley. Your blogs are showing that creative side coming to life.
