Hey Tim,

I think your story would fit the format for my Podcast: The Midlife Launch. I would love to have you on the show. Let me know.

Tim, thanks for sharing how this is working for you. I will include this is my book launch list of "how to do it."

Debbie and I have used Goodreads to promote our book, Two Are Better: Midlife Newlyweds Bicycle Coast to Coast. We do giveaways on a regular basis. It is a cost-effective way to create visibility to your book and also to garner some reader reviews. I've even reached out to members who have reviewed other books in our genre and asked them to review our book. (Credible third-party reader reviews are not that easy to come by.) You can also join (or start) groups in your subject matter. There are thousands of readers from many countries in this community. Over 400 signed up for our last giveaway, and we limited that particular giveaway to the US. Library Thing is another reader community and we're over there too, but I've found Goodreads is larger and more active. Members can link to facebook friends and authors can feed their blogs, so the social reach is significant. Here's a link to our book on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17343781-two-are-better

Do others have opinions about Goodreads or Library Thing?

Tom, I'm glad you ask this question. I'm following the answers. I have my new book coming out and I want to cover all the bases.

Susan, thanks for the input. It's good to hear what others have done or is doing.

I have a friend who gave away 2 or 3 copies of her printed book, and she got several new leads from it.  I intend to do the same when mine comes out in print (I hope soon)!

I signed up Goodreads author program recently and am trying to see how to use it to promote my book. Has anyone used the giveaway promotion or advertising there? Did you have any success?
