Hey Terri - I agree with all the other wise advice you've already received. As Susan mentioned - blog. It's a great way for you to get smaller chunks of writing out there and get feedback quickly. Plus, since the feedback may be coming from strangers, it is more likely honest feedback that you'll get from friends and family (friends and family mean well, but don't want to hurt your feelings). The other benefit of blogging is that you are able to do it frequently.  Frequent feedback means frequent adjustments...and with you'll see your confidence build over time.  Best,

Teri, first of all, that's perfectly normal. Everyone feels that way at one time or another.  You have to (at least I do) write an awful first draft and not be afraid to do so. My suggestion:  First of all, I agree with Annie, just WRITE.  Don't be afraid to write an awful first draft (like Jim says).  I'd write a blog or a few chapters and then select a friend you really trust to be honest, and don't let the feedback throw you, or get an independent critique from a writing group (but one where you feel comfortable), or someone here who offers to help you.  You can get all the help you ask for here.  This is a wonderful community.

@Terri...not sure if it's my phone but I think it's easier to have discussions in forums instead of
commenting. But to answer question just WRITE. Don't cringe or apologize, just get words out on paper. When you have enough for a chapter, 3000-5000 words, then you find who you trust for critique - writers group, very trusted friend, maybe even another boardie here.

Terri, you are among friends. I had to stop being afraid of "being wrong." :0) Getting things wrong is part of the creative process. It's a necessary bump along the road to better work. Just put your writing out there for comment. Eventually it won't feel so personal when constructive feedback comes your way. No, really. :0)

I have a question.  I've finally stopped talking about writing and have begun.  I'm terrified to let anyone read what I've written but I need to get some honest feedback.  Anyone else have this issue when you started writing?  How did you deal with it and how did you find someone you trust to give you honest feedback?

Hi Sutton... I posted a book link for you over the weekend and want to apologize b/c I made an error. It was actually The Amazon Millionaire: A New Breed of Entrepreneur that I was speaking about that was written by both Robert Kiyosaki and Dave Kettner.  Here is the correct link for that free ebook. http://davekettner.com/the-amazon-millionaire/

The book link that I posted was Circle of Profit, which might be of interest to you too b/c Anik Singal has a successful internet business. Robert Kiyosaki did not co-author his book. These are the links for Anik Singal if you want to check him out.

http://circleofprofit.com/GetMyBook/ and his website is www.aniksingal.com

Again, many apologies for my error. Have a super week!
