I noticed a cool, underused feature on Amazon.
On the sales page for most products there is a forum. Anyone can post a discussion and leave comments on other discussions. This is different from the reviews because people can comment on other peoples discussions.
I noticed that this feature is severely underused. A quick look at very popular books showed ZERO discussions on the forum section. However, on popular electronic items, the forums are more popular. (tech-geeks leaving discussion comments about cameras and computers)
What so you think? Are these Amazon Forums helpful and could the discussions be helpful for customers and potential customers? How could you use the forum to help boost sales?
The forum is towards the bottom of the page. Click on 'see all discussions' to enter the actually product forum.
And here are a few links to more information from Amazon about the forums:

Amazon top 500 Tag Cloud. This is helpful when you look at the section on your sales page titled, 'Tags Customers Associate with This Product.' Add some tags to your product page that help people find your product.

Permalink Reply by Derek Olsen on October 21, 2012 at 10:17am That reminds me of some product reviews for a laptop trey that would attach to the steering wheel of your car. It was intended to be used when you aren't driving. But people left all kinds of funny reviews about ways to use it while driving. (watching TV, eating dinner, pouring shots, changing diapers)
The forum is interesting to me. The ability to reply directly to someone else's post seems really valuable. I think it would be helpful if you could reply directly to someones review and ask followup questions about the product. Of course you can't reply to a review. That is how I see the forums working, like replying to a review and asking a specific person questions about the product.
People are used to the reviews and stars. Most books have zero forum discussions.
Anyone else?
