Industrial Homicide and the New Era Of Web 2.0

The industrial era killed our ability to think in an untethered way. The drive-downtown-and-crank-my-widget-from-eight-til-five turned the American worker into a higher form of cattle. We learned not to think "outside the stall."

But then a new era dawned... and then another.

First, the dawn of the internet. The Industrial Age has gave way to the Information Age. Almost anything is now possible. Because of the internet, one can now design and build income streams that allows him to live where he wants, work from his passion on his own terms - without sacrificing lifestyle. (Seventy percent of adults are online. Don't you think you can find your market somewhere in there?)

The second dawn was Web 2.0. The internet grew up. Broadband has become ubiquitous. And that has changed everything. In a Web 2.0 world things are different. Things are better.

No longer will a simple brochure website do the trick. Your customers want community. They want interaction with you and with each other. They don't buy from the person with the best sales pitch. They buy from the person they "know, like and trust." Web 2.0 demands it, commands it and makes it possible.

The person who will thrive in a Web 2.0 world will be the one who handles New Media well: blogging, podcasting, and videocasting.

The person who thrives in a Web 2.0 world will also be the one who works faster and produces more through leveraging the internet's power to build his low-cost, speedy (often multi-national) team. In a Web 2.0 world, participants include cost effective, talented virtual assistants from around the world. This is unprecedented. And when you know how to access and leverage their talents, it means a quicker launch of your ideas and thousands of dollars toward your bottom line.

This group will be focused on tying together all you are learning about coaching, speaking and other untethered options and "putting it all together" into one internet based "hub" that you can operate from anywhere.

We will focus on building community around your brand through New Media channels and accessing the power of Web 2.0 to keep your content flowing and growing for maximum profit

Hi guys...I'm just getting started. I use links for free tests and then I meet with my clients after they take the tests. I'm just now thinking about doing a website. my question is...since the links are free, is there any violation if i put them on my website? and if one of the websites i link to has other products, could I ask to be an affiliate? Thanks for all the wonderful info here.

Need people to add ideas to the 101 ways to make money using the Internet link above!  (geographically uncoupled)

Idea:  maybe I should start a new discussion on "101 ways to make money on the internet"?  Each person could add 5+ new ideas?

Guys thank you for the good info that your sending my way. I have played around with os-commerce that's a free shopping cart, the only issue that I had with it was that about a week after I had it up and running someone hacked the sight and put some really nasty stuff on it so I shut it down.

I already have google checkout and a paypal account that I have had for about 5yrs and I love it.

Shopify looks pretty cool I will take some time and look at all the options that you guys have put out and will ask more questions as they arise and also show you guys the logo that I have for the site.

Eric, you are getting good advice here.  Keep it simple at first and you will be glad you did.  You can always make changes later.

Big note:  if you're reading anything that says "avoid PayPal" it's probably old.  PayPal is more and more the more trusted merchant online.  People don't shy away from paying through PayPal and you will find it pretty user-friendly for setting up and integrating with other solutions.

Another good opensource (read:FREE) solution that is often recommended -- but I haven't personally used -- is ZenCart

Be blessed and I hope your new venture enjoys great success.

I would agree with Peter. If you only have one or a few products I would go with PayPal or (my favorite) e-junkie.com - you could also use Google Checkout, or, if you want a whole website (that looks great) and has an integrated shoppingcart I would recommend shopify.com. It's pricey but you would get a really nice shopping cart site.

If your just getting started you should look at using Paypal and or E-junkie.  They are simple low cost alternatives.

If you are going to have a larger number of products and need to have shopping carts on multiple sites the premiumwebcarts.com is the way to go.

Hi guys, I hope your all well. I have been a member for a while but really not been an active participant on the sight. I have been a big fan f Dan's podcasts that I listen to all the time.

I am looking at getting an online store started and would like to get some direction from the pros out there. I have been looking at x-cart for the shopping cart and the cost is 150$ and you own it free and clear. I have seen other shopping carts that people rent but I would rather own one. I have already been selling the product just by showing it to people and now people have started asking me if I have a site.

Please let me know if there are any other shopping carts out there that are worth looking at.

Thanks.

For a community/blogging site I have my own ning site and I've been pretty happy with it even though there are some limitations.
For a static site I'd recommend Squarespace. It's pretty easy to design your own site and it's very reasonably priced. Although I haven't used their customer service yet I hear it's very helpful when you need help creating your site.
