Hi everyone I have a company here in Orange County CA its called HD Window Cleaners. I have started it since I am currently lost my job and now need an income and have always enjoyed cleaning windows. The marketing and advertising part though is daughting and scary! How can I get customers? I tried door to door at businesses and I dont know what it was but have been turned down and left flyers with a few of them. What can I do to drum up some business and I have a budget of about $300 dollars. Thank you all.

What sets you apart from any other window washer in your area? Why would any person allow you to clean for them?
Contact the Lions club or chamber of commerce and ask to speak at a monthly meeting. Put on a demonstration and emphasize your benefits to the group. Offer a discount for any attendees who allow you to come and do their home windows. You might even offer a 100% guarantee that if they are not satisfied, they owe you nothing! However, if they like your service, they would give you 5 references. At the chamber, these are business owners. They understand the principals of building a business. Don't you think they realize what it takes to build a business?
What type of discount would you give a church? A private school? ??? Make yourself one of these "sandwich signs" and display yourself as you work on a house or business. "This home / business can see your smile better because of HD Window Cleaners!" or some other slogan you can think up. Look for unique opportunities to help a person who is getting new windows installed in their home. Ask if the contractor is the one who cleans or the home owner. Always get referrals from your business. As stated earlier, when you keep track of your business you will soon get so busy you can't keep up with it all.
Lastly, be sure you send a "Thank You" card to every customer. Have you ever gotten such a card from getting your car worked on? We received a "Christmas ornament" of a picture of our house we recently bought from the mortgage company. It hangs over our kitchen sink. Who do think we would refer if a friend needed a new mortgage?
Hope it helps! To your success --- Jerry
Hi Pat,
You have chosen a great industry. Invite a couple of competitors to lunch. You will be surprised how kind they will be. They will tell you what works and what doesn't. It's always good to create your own network.
