Hi everyone! :) Looking to get a basic website set up for my blog and to be able to post some of the things I've written over the years. I've never tried to create my own site before so I am completely clueless ha Any help to get started on this would be great! :)
Thanks!
Kristin

Permalink Reply by Brian C. Newman on January 28, 2012 at 6:32pm I agree with many here that setting up your own web site is the ultimate goal. However, I'm a fan of Dave Ramsey, and he would advocate going slow and building up clientele and revenue before spending money and time in setting up a dedicated web site. The cost is relatively cheap, yes. However, the time in wading through the web hosting choices, setting up the blog on Wordpress, configuring menus, pages, dealing with the technical ins and outs of Wordpress, etc. is really much more than the novice should tackle. To get up and going quickly, I think using Blogger or another free blogging site is the first step.
Permalink Reply by Rob Orr on February 2, 2012 at 2:04pm I guess it depends on what the crux of the business is, but I wouldn't say that you need to hold off on doing something. In fact, because it's relatively inexpensive and in a lot of ways can easily be done, I don't see the a good reason not to get started. There is something to be said for getting started, even if you're not entirely sure what you want to do.
I'd stay away from Blogger, or any of those other free platforms for the reasons I mentioned before. If you're just experimenting, that's fine, but if you have a game plan for where you're looking to take your business, you need to start the right way so you don't end up regretting it later.

Permalink Reply by Michelle Osborn on February 27, 2012 at 3:19pm Kristin, I use Blogger as I'm just starting out blogging in conjunction with my financial coaching. It is somewhat limited in templates but I love it's simplicity and it's free to use. I also use Facebook, Twitter & even pinterest to market it.
Good luck with your new journey!!
