I just recently migrating 6 websites from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. It wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined especially since most of the modules had an upgrade path. Surprisingly, it was the upgrade of Drupal itself that was the hardest. Due to some circular errors, I had to simulatneously run the upgrader while tinkering in the database through PHPMyAdmin. Glad all the work is done and I'm enjoying all my sites now on a single platform again.

Rob that looks like a strong successful group. I find I'm short on time these days to keep up the group myself and I actually stopped developing websites for clients (I still use Drupal for own but now I purchase themes instead of rolling my own.) The group will be deleted by the 48days unless someone admins it and keep it current. Too bad 48days doesn't have subgroups yet. This would be a perfect subgroup for your group.

Hi Benjamin - For the members here, we talk about Drupal over in the My Website Workshop group too, so please come join us over there. Hate to see this one go away, Drupal is where I live.

Is anyone interested in keep this group alive? Because there is no activity recently, this group has been slated for deletion. If one of you would like to admin the group and keep it alive, please contact me right away.

I just created my first D7 theme. The biggest change since D6 was having to copy html.tpl.php from /modules/system to my theme folder.

I created a discussion if you'd like to comment on the site.

I don't that much about media queries myself so I purchased a responsive theme for my new D7 site. The theme has a lot of module dependencies so it's taken me a week so far to get it setup. Here's my mobile-first site BenjaminLotter.com.

Not sure about Drupal 8, I am still trying to get a handle at the beginner level of Drupal 7.  The book that Rob mentioned "Using Drupal" is a huge help in understanding how this system works.  Thanks Rob!

Personally, I could not possibly care less about Drupal 8 or any of the plans associated with it at the time (although, to answer your question, Symfony sounds like a good idea).  I want the Drupal community to get Drupal 7 done right first before they move on to 8. </rant>

What do you guys think about Drupal 8 going to the Symfony framework?

I still consider myself a newbie-moderate Drupal user.  I've been spending time getting used to the hook system Drupal uses to allow developers the ability to make functional changes.

In Drupal 8... they announced the use of Symfony. How do you envision the use of an MVC framework will affect your current knowledge of Drupal?
