It really depends on what you will be using it for. Can you give me the 5 top things you will be doing on the computer?

Yes, record keeping, email, Microsoft office, social media things such as blog, YouTube.

Kevin, I would recommend dell, lenovo, asus, or acer. They all make excellent laptops. Given what you will be doing with the laptop most laptops from these manufacturers for under 1,000 laptops will more then meet your needs.

Unrelated to the specific laptop question, but as you'll be doing record keeping, make sure you setup a backup system. I use the iDrive's free service which gives you 5GB of storage. There are many other online cloud backup services including just using the new Google Drive which backups to Google Docs.

I agree with Mike's assesment of Dell or Acer for what you'll be doing. I don't have any experience with Lenovo.
