No problem Erin, I am all about taking action. We can make this happen.
Comment by Erin Shaw on Monday Kim,
I went ahead and posted a discussion since I was right here anyway.
Sorry for posting twice!
Comment by Erin Shaw on Monday Hi Kim,
Posting to see where everyone lives is a great idea. Under discussions would be better than in comments so we can track the responses easier. I'll definitely help with ideas for a meetup.
By the way, I am in Covington.
I am in Covington.
Comment by Colleen Reiter on Monday Hi! I'm in the Gwinnett area. It would be great to connect locally with other 48Days members, so I look forward to this happening!
fyi--I attended Kent Julian's Speak It Forward Bootcamp last year & it was great! His Bootcamp was packed with tons of valuable information. He shared what had and had not worked for him over the years, so there was something for everybody attending (whether new or seasoned speakers). Ya gotta go! The next one will probably be this October.
Great Erin, help me muddle through some ideas for a meetup. I will post to see where everyone lives in Atlanta.
Comment by Erin Shaw on Sunday Hi everyone,
I just found this group. It's great to see some familiar faces. I am looking forward to meeting more of you.
Kim - love your idea. Let's make it happen!
Yes not much activity in this group but I would love to see more local activity. I would be up to participating in something maybe monthly that we can do to keep us local 48 Days people connected.
Comment by Dean Oliver on April 30, 2013 at 10:18am Thanks for that encouragement, Lynne. Maybe we can pick the activity level up in this group soon. May is a very busy month for me, but once I get past it I may try to set up a Meet-Up for this group just so we can get to know each other and find out what everyone is working on.
To your question, one conference I'd like to HIGHLY recommend is Kent Julian's Speak It Forward Speaker's Boot Camp here in Duluth this weekend. Though I can't make it this year due to a scheduling conflict, I've been to this conference twice before and will attend again in the future. I didn't really know Kent before I attended his conference, but he's quickly become a dear friend of mine and has helped me tremendously on my own public speaking. Good friend or not, though, I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't feel like it was extremely valuable. I can recommend it without reservation. Hurry though, it's this weekend and I think he only has a couple of spots left. Check it out here...Speak It Forward
Comment by Lynne Watts on April 30, 2013 at 3:52am I'd love to see more networking and activity in the Atlanta group. I host the Called Woman group and it is usually pretty busy with comments, questions, discussions etc. I'd love to see the Atlanta group take off with more networking and support. For instance, what seminars or conferences are going on locally that we could attend? I'm a writer and I'll be attending the Red Clay writer's conference at Kennesaw State University May 18th. Anybody else have local conferences to recommend?
Comment by Dean Oliver on April 29, 2013 at 6:49pm Welcome to the group, Ramon! I'm new myself and don't know exactly how active this group is. If we go by the activity on the Comment Wall it looks like the activity has been a little spotty. But maybe we can find some folks who would like to network a little more actively. Look forward to meeting you!
