Will 2013 be the year of the app?

If you are interested in app development, will this be the year that you move forward with living your dream?

Dan once talked about a magic pill for success, how there's really no "magic pill", but daily actionable steps will definitely lead you toward success.

This is a new year full of opportunities, ESPECIALLY with true iPhone apps and Android apps, and "web apps", or mobile websites.

I have not lived up to the charge that I feel I should by being a 48 Days group host, and I apologize for not being more active, and am taking my own "magic pill", and encouraging you to join me.

Stay tuned, and be prepared to take advantage of all the new opportunities that 2013 has to offer!

Hello all. The silence is a bit deafening in this app development group :) but in case anyone drops by, I wanted to share the name of an app programmer I found on Elance. My app is just a hobby and not a significant income stream by any means, but it is selling well enough that I want to maintain it. When iOS 7 came along, I needed to find a programmer to update the app (my original programmer was not available). I ended up working with a young man in India. He is a few years out of college, and has aspirations of owning his own business - his work ethic and approach impressed me so much (below is part of an answer I got from him when I asked if he ever slept!). He is relatively new on elance, but knows his stuff and his work was fast, quality, and approved into the App Store with no issues. I just want to give him a boost towards his professional passion, if possible. His name is Saketh Ashvapuram.

His perspective:

" I do sleep :)
I sleep hardly for 6 hours a day. I'm young now with all physical and mental potential to work hard. I want to utilise each and every second of my life during this stage which can lead me to a position I expect to be after few years.
I'm wanting to start a company ....... Not now or may be so far, but one day I'm going to make that happen. "

Contact me if you need help tracking him down.

Hey Michael! The best places are elance.com and odesk.com, I prefer elance. You set up a job and screen contractors. The best thing to do is interview the ones you feel good about on Skype. I can give you more pointers of you want

Hello group. I am happy to be joining to this group. I look forward to reading and learning. I would like to start with a question first.

I would like to find a specific type of programmer. What I am looking for is not necessarily best price. More of the ability to do EXACTLY what I want.

How can I go about finding a programmer?

If you're gonna publish as an ebook (Kindle or otherwise), you may benefit from reading some of the posts in the DIY ePublishing group.  Tony and the gang there know their stuff and are more than willing to help you navigate that arena.

Hope this helps.

Here's another option..  How about publish it as a Kindle e-book?  I don't think Pat's e-book on creating an e-book has been updated to include how to publish a Kindle book, but I can try and find you a link to how to do it.  This makes it available in all the app stores through Amazon, and any device can read a Kindle book, through the Kindle app.

Worth looking into maybe.

Josh, Personally, eBay would probably be lower on my list.  I would offer it from my web site first, and on Amazon second.

Scott and Michael - thanks for your input. I think you both have made valuable suggestions towards my idea of creating an app. As mentioned in my initial post, I am an illiterate and was with the impression that apps are easily located from the itunes store. Thanks again for your ideas. I think I will follow your recommendations by downloading the ebook that talks about creating ebooks and create an ebook first. But do you think the idea of delivering the ebook thru ebay is a wise idea? And I will also open a blog site to create a platform. I am thinking of providing some free content thru the blogsite and offering the ebook for a nominal fee thru ebay. Is this a better approach? And as you both suggest I will then think of creating an app. Once again thanks for your input. I will keep you both and the group posted on my development with this idea. Have a nice day, Josh
