Stephen Covey, author of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, passed away today. He passed away from complications due to a fall on his bike. He was 79.
I know many of you are like me and are saddened to hear of his passing. He made a great impact on many authors, speakers, coaches and people from all walks of life - from the CEO to the person who takes out the trash.
Using Andy Andrews point - Mr. Covey had a great "Butterfly Effect" on untold millions of people. He will be greatly missed!

Permalink Reply by Farnoosh Brock on July 18, 2012 at 7:47pm I am very sad too. I loved his teachings and his audio lessons. Very sad. Great loss.

Permalink Reply by Dallon Christensen on July 18, 2012 at 1:15pm The world was a little less positive and uplifting on Monday. Dr. Covey was a huge influence. I read 7 Habits and it transformed how I thought. We lost a shining light.

Mine is #2... Begin with the end in mind. It makes me think about the big picture regarding life or whatever I am pursuing.
How about you?
Permalink Reply by Dan Miller on July 18, 2012 at 5:14pm Don - great question. I think most any achievers have been profoundly impacted by Dr. Covey's principles.
Just as a quick recap for ready reference for everyone:
My personal favorite - Habit 4 - Think Win-Win
That's been more revolutionary for me than any of the others.
Permalink Reply by Dallon Christensen on July 19, 2012 at 5:31am Mine is Habit 5 - Seek first to understand, then be understood. As a younger and "eager to please" person in the workplace, I was always looking to give the right answer. Now, I work very hard to slow down and ask the right questions first. Only by understanding someone else can I truly help them.
