I have a job. My kids are both in college, so I have free time around the house before I go to work. I don't want a second job as an employee. I bought Dan's book low cost or no cost business ideas. I am intrigued by window washing idea. Its something I can do before I go to work and it doesn't involve cutting grass.
I live in Clarksville, TN. This is a growing community with strip malls and more strip malls being built. I am researching the city now. I just needs some advice on presentation and who to talk too. I have thought about just doing some free window cleaning just for the opportunity to leave flyers and make some contacts.
My plan to start this venture is 29 May 2012. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Permalink Reply by Matthew Casteel on May 23, 2012 at 11:17pm I think setting a date is a great start. Most people say, "I'm going to start this one day..." but you're ready to take action. That's great.
Have you thought of some names?
You could also just go door to door in a strip mall, with a price already in mind and pop your head in and say, "need your windows washed?"
But I bet there's someone here in 48days.net who has done something like this before.

I agree with Matthew, setting a date for action is so important, yet so often overlooked. In terms of advice, I'm thinking this could be marketed very similarly to a local company in Fort Worth that did street address painting on driveways. He came around 2 days before he was going to be in the neighborhood and left flyers on everyone's doors. If we wanted him to do the work, we just filled out the flyer, choosing what if any design we wanted on the numbering.
Naturally, being a hardcore Fightin' Texas Aggie, I had mine done in maroon with the Texas A&M logo on the side!
What you could do on your flyers is to give them a choice about how often they'd like you to come back (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, every 3 days, etc.). This will help you build a customer base of repeat business without constantly trying to find new customers.
Good luck and let us know if we can be of further help!
Joe,
You might enjoy this home based, internet business. I have a lot of empty nesters that enjoy our opportunity. Our website is www.plexuscountry.com
Very little money to get in, anywhere from 34.95 to 246.94 at the most (the more it costs, the more product you receive). If you enjoy meeting people and helping them, you will love this. It's a relationship based business.
