Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love

We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.

But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.

48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.

Hello 48 days community, hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving. My question is concerning any information anyone might have in regards to finding creative work in the Dallas Ft. worth area ? I am currently employed with a package delivery company, and while I am grateful for the job, the long hours and wear and tear on the body (I just turned 51 this month!!) is starting to take it's toll. I also long for the opportunity to be part of something more, where my creative juices can flow. Any advice or information would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

John Allen

Oh John, it was so exciting to see your post as I am sure you are going to get some great feedback.
Before I jump in...have you taken the DISC assessment yet as this is the first step that Dan has his clients go through that can be extremely helpful. If not, go to: http://www.48days.com/disc/ for information on the profiles (would recommend the standard profile). If you have taken, what was your DISC profile?

No, I haven't taken the assessment but will definitely look into it, Thanks!
John, I'm glad you asked! I also recommend taking the DISC Profile as it gives a lot of insight.

I hear you on the long hours and wear and tear.

When you say "creative" work, are you artistic, or just looking for creative ideas on finding a new job?
Yes I am artistic, I been during screen printed t-shirts as a hobby for over 20 years. My true desire is for entrepreneurship, But for the moment I must work a 9-5. My job as a delivery driver has allowed me to deliver to many different businesses that promotes creativity. I thought maybe someone in the 48 community could give me some insights to employment opportunities with these companies.

As with so many people I coach, you answered your own question my friend!

Lots of creatives are good at their creation but horrible at selling. I would be willing to bet that if you learned how to sell t-shirts you could have your creative outlet and entrepreneurship wrapped up in your hobby!

But, you have to decide if you want to be an employee or an entrepreneur. If your "true desire" is really entrepreneurship, I wouldn't look for another job.

Hope that helps,

I am working with an insurance company out of North Carolina, we have leads (no cold calling) and we need help. This has been a great addition to my Leadership Coaching and speaking. It is part or full time and it allows you to build a business while helping families. This may not fall in with being creative but you can check it out at ChoicesFinancial.com  I am located in Hope, Arkansas about 2.5 hours from you.

Thanks Greg for the info, I will check it out!
