Auctioning off a painting to help.

It's not a stupid idea. Artists auction off work for all sorts of causes. You can see how eBay does this -- sometimes that's the quickest way to do an auction for a non profit. You might find out what other benefits are going on in your area -- maybe someone else is already putting something together and you can add your piece to it.

This is what I do best....they are only ideas. Let me put my THINKING CAP on.......

 

Actually, this is a great idea in more ways than one. I take it you WANT to sell your paintings, but I could be wrong....No one has to know you haven't "sold" a painting yet. What they have to see is a local artist doing something charitable for the community. 

 

#1 You may want to contact the organization and speak with a donations or PR person. See if they have an event coming up, and if this could be a venue for you to auction off the painting.

 

#2 See if there are any groups holding any silent auctions in the area and ask if they are still accepting items for the auction.

 

Have your business cards at the ready at the auction, prepare a press release to send to the arts/community section of your local newspaper. 

 

#3 You may want to contact the local radio stations once the event has been secured and see if they will blast a PSA for you. (From my limited radio experience...some stations will not name "ticket prices" for an event, but this is just an announcement which could go like this.

 

Join local artist Jureda Michelle Windam on Saturday, June xxx, at 6:00 as her art work is auctioned off the benefit the XYZ organization. Proceeds will go to assist victims of _________ in our area. Call 888-555-1111 for more information.

 

#4 See if their are any women's/business groups in your area holding any meetings are events at which you could auction off your painting. 

 

#5 Nope, not a stupid idea at all. You may want to even host an event where your painting are on display for sale, but one in particular is auctioned off for the XYZ organization.

It's not a stupid idea if you only want to give 1%.

 

If you gave 1% of everything you sell for the rest of your life, it would (hopefully) be a greater donation...maybe you can start with this promotion and find a path of giving that suits your particular interests.

 

You might also sell prints of this painting and donate a portion of them...so the giving can continue!

You know the LORD is so good.  HE is quick as lightning sometimes with answering prayers!  During my Bible study this morning I prayed for Clarity in my life.  What HE wants me to do.  Of course this is not the first time I have asked Him, His will, But for some reason it is the first time I have actually asked for CLARITY.  And what does He do...... I cut on the computer and HE speaks to me thru Bernice and Lee.  Thank you both so much for being instruments of the LORD's!!!!

 

I have been struggling with even doing this at all, because my family's finances are down to the negative, but I really wanted to so bad.  The LORD protected my home and my family and I wanted to do more so badly, but I know the LORD wants me to also do what's best for my family, too.  I just had no idea how.  Joel has been very helpful, too.  In that I need to do what's best for me and my family, first. 

Excuse me while I go do a few motherly duties.........  OK, I'm back.

Well, Maybe I should call the hospital where I use to work and see if they are doing anything as far as donations......

 

Bernice, I will be checking out your BLOG and will be marking off the steps on your list here for me.....

and Lee,  thank you for the PRINTS suggestion.  Great idea and the donation percentage.  I guess if I ever had any money I'd give it away.  I know I need to get a balance on that.
