Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love

We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.

But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.

48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.

If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.

Ok...I am starting a podcast / blog / web-site.  I have a Windows 10 computer and frustrated trying to find apps / programs to launch each platform.  Do I need to break down and get an Apple computer?  Thanks for the input...

Hi Stephen,

Are you self hosting the podcast etc or are you using a service such as Bluehost? If it's the latter then the machine, Windows or MAC shouldn't matter as you are communicating to the service via a web interface. You might want to check out Michael Hyatt's site as he goes into great detail on how to set this up

Although Macs seem to be the cool thing in this realm, I use a PC. I've (almost) always used PCs, so as long as I can do what I need to do, I don't think I should be wasting my time learning a new OS. What are you having trouble finding? I might have answers on the blog/website part of your question.

I made the switch from PC to Mac about 2 years ago.  As a 40-something "ancient" guy in tech terms, it took some time to get used to the new operating system.  I love Mac for my day to day operations...although I still downloaded MS Office for Mac.  That being said, in my home studio (for voiceover and podcasting), I still find that running my desktop PC is more efficient for me.  I know that there are tools for Mac that would do the same (and probably more), but for strictly voice, I stuck with my old PC ways and programs.  I also realize that this post does NOTHING for you except give you my experience, so now, continue on with your life and your decisions. :)

I like this feedback. Every time I have to buy a new laptop because they fall apart, I keep thinking I should buy a mac. You made me feel better about my most recent PC purchase :)

I'm in the middle of this decision, as well.  I have a Chromebook for my day-to-day work as a teacher, but it doesn't allow for other things that I want to do (for instance, the use of Scrivener for writing).  Our family PC laptop is so slow and clunky, and we need something new.

Of course, my high-school/jr-high-age children want a Mac, because that's what the younger generation likes.  I am leaning that direction, since we use iPhones and iPads already.  Also, I like the idea that Macs aren't prone to viruses the way PCs are (so I'm told).  But yes, I'll still want Microsoft Office.  There probably isn't a perfect answer.

Macs are great for doing design work and run the Adobe suite well, if that is what you are using. However, I just got a new computer, PC with windows 10 on it and started running Adobe muse and photoshop yesterday. That suite will allow you to do podcasting (I think, I don't do any audio so I'm not sure) doing web design is wonderful with that suite, but it is a HUGE program and its not cheap either, but I do enjoy the benefits that it has and I've learned how to use it as well.

Both OS will be able to do what you want to do i.e. podcast, blog, website. I've been blogging, making videos etc with PC for years. Some tools are cheaper in Apple eg Screenflow vs Camtasia in PC but the Apple will cost more than the PC.

I reckon you can probably get more free tools in PC eg Audacity, Windows Live, GIMP. If I have too, I can probably learn to use Apple. USB microphones will work in both os.

Don't let your tools hold you back though.
